I think it's around 730mm for the blank, I need to check as I honestly can't remember.

Small update, got the blank turned to rough dimensions.
Cut the tubing for the airtube, now just need to thread it for valve and end cap.
I'm glad the barrel turned out straight and true.

I would like to have a closed cabinet for my nc lathe, sometimes coolant would make things much faster with alu. Are you using 6082 t6 or something else? And as always I am interested if you work to plans or just freehand the stuff, nowadays I have shifted towards imaginary drawings, too much scientific methods and planning at the university here. P.S. those soft jaw bolts are fatal to grooving tools, dont ask how I know.

I'm still making this gun in my head, without drawings but some parts need to put on cad as I use cam for milling g-code.
This one was out of 6061 as that was what I had. Mostly I use 6082-t6 or 7075 for critical parts.
Soft jaw bolts are going to be recessed when I get some shorter allenhead bolts.
What university are you in Albert?

It now assemble quite nicely.

This is why I still keep the old kneemill at the shop. Can't tilt the head on a VMC.

Thanks guys,
As you might have guessed the fill port is going to be under the barrel band, just a standard paintball male coupling pointing down.

As we mostly shoot tethered it's not i the way of anything and points the tether down when shooting on erect position. I have had couple of incidents where it was very close that I didn't shoot the tether.

Sometimes a simple milling attachment on a lathe comes in very handy....

There isn't much travel, but it's easy to set up for milling on an angle.... even compound angles....

And, lathes can offer a very long z axis travel for drilling. Sure enough any 3 axis machine could have done the slot in the barrel, but tilting is just simple and quick if the slightly oval shape that results is not a concern.

Milling attachment is nice on some works. Milling it in the knee mill was just me being lazy. Could have easily made 3D contouring op on fusion and have it run on the vmc but didn't feel like messing the bigger machine with steel that is setup for aluminum at the moment.
I try to run one material and clean between changing materials.
Not possible all the time but when I can.
