Well loud or not, but I'm thinking about staying around 62gr max.
If I can get around 150J I'll be happy.

Man all I can think right now is I am a touch mad at the world governments and their regulations... Sure would love to be able to send you a slightly more fitting(an almost artistic choice) and longer barrel...
I am a fan of Harry Pope... Pope was in a joint venture with Stevens and developed the Stevens Pope Single Shot Schuetzen(lever action falling block)...then Stevens was bought by Savage... which then made the Savage 99 hammerless lever action ...in which I think I see echoes of the Stevens Pope rifle...one of the calibers offered for the Savage 99 was .22 High Power...
http://www.nramuseum.com/guns/the-galleries/innovation,-oddities-and-competition/case-23-the-scheutzenfest/stevens-pope-single-shot-schuetzen-rifle.aspx
but what really fits is that you have SAVAGE electro etched on the upper... so a Savage High Power 22 barrel would be rising to the level of art in a way by sticking to a theme... Not to mention it's a good price for a good quality hammer forged barrel...Heym hones their barrels before forging... and you have the psi to make it work...
Might be to tapered for its own good but...
https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/1664610
sorry just daydreaming again... I do think with that short fat stiff barrel accuracy with 60-ish grain rounds should be excellent..!

Nice looking rifle that Stevens Pope, and looking at the barrel prices in that store sure makes me feel we are being robbed in this side of the pond.
Holy cow, ~45 bucks for a barrel. That is just so unfair.

Got the distraction barrel adapter turned, now just need to drill couple of holes and it's done.
Colour doesn't match but its a test piece anyway.

Thanks Kirby,
Here is rest of the rifle, I call it stuby.
Now I still need to polish that airtube and make a muzzle brake to get the barrel past the airtube.
Sorry for the pic quality, will take better ones when it's all finished.

Lets see ~105 fpe 62g NOE w/.17 B.C. ... near zero 40 yards scope height 1.5".... it's a 100 fpe laser for that 40 yards... with a 90* 10 mph wind less than .5 of drift..
100 yards same zero same wind... ~12.5" drop and ~2.75" drift and 90 fpe left... yep on a good day head shot on Mr bunny at 100....
150-200 yards moa seems likely.... with a far zero... and not to much wind blasting...

well I think he is going to get the 150 Joules he is shooting for with the ~60g he intends to use... the rest is a Chairgun rough estimate using a g1 profile and a .65" killzone... and NOE's Estimated BC for their 62g which I think might be a bit conservative when staying subsonic...

Side project chronied, interesting results...
Light projectile gave most energy out of the ones I tested.
8" twist if I didn't mention it.
200bar
270bar
Tested these two and one 62gr but it's going only around 240m/s so too slow for now.
Had only that 270bar in the bottle so no higher than that for the time being.
But I'm pretty happy for reachin the 150J limit I set my mind on.

Thanks,
Well I just had this barrel laying around and promised to test it in an airgun. It has done 0.5-0.6 moa average 5x5 shot groups at 150m on powder so I'm hoping it will be good on air too.

Well it will not be as flat shooting as pb but the rest will only depend on the capabilities of the round/trigger monkey cause it certainly should not have any harmonic probs... looking forwards to the range report... betting on moa at 100 on a semi calm day for sure... the lighter rounds may be a touch over spun for 150-200+..?

The old Ohaus bullet shows promise, a lot of things was learned today, like different ways how not to hold the rifle with this setup, very hold sensitive.
Need to get the rifle track better before can get it to group good.
Power is there no doubt about that.

I'm kind of puzzled about this, getting pretty amazing numbers on fpe vs barrel length. Bob would you check the math for me? 50.2gr 285bar 310m/s 395mm barrel.

I’ll let Bob work out all the details but I come up with very impressive
. I would guesstimate that the valve is open just about the whole way if not after the bullet leaves. But nonetheless, great job! Any measurements on the air consumption per shot ? Then Bob can give us a full work up on the numbers.
Thanks,
Chris
