I was just wondering how many fill there pcp with a hand pump opposed to a tank ?

I have both. I use the hand pump more than you would think. I'll use my tank down until I get a chance to get it refilled and top off with the hand pump. I will also just use the hand pump when shooting guns with smaller airtubes, like the 2250 PCP or Disco.

Takes all the enjoyment out of it for me. I do own one but only tried it once to see if it worked... then I robbed it for parts for other stuff.

I pump my pcp's and hpa's. I use it as a workout, I've noticed my bad back don't bother me anymore and toned my arm muscles....just have to find the mojo on pumping, with that said I now have an excuse to shoot my airguns more so I can pump up the jam. On weekends, I'll shoot my 5 airguns to min fill and can top it off while watching TV.

I used to use a hand pump. I bought a hill pump when I got my first pcp. That lasted about 6 months. Since getting the Yong Heng the Hill has been collecting dust.

I've always said there is nothing wrong with hand pumping and I still believe that but once you get a compressor, hand pumping loses its "luster" quickly. I found that I was hand pumping a lot when I wanted to be shooting so a compressor was the answer. For someone that strictly hunts I think a hand pump is the way to go to keep cost (and headaches) down.

Pumper here and like it... have my pump kit ready to go all the time, and since I tuned my rifle I get the most out of my effort.

But I'll be honest, next "big" purchase for me will be the nomad compressor or something like it.

I like to use an air tank. I get it filled at a scuba diving shop. Dive shops have very good filters, so I don't need to worry about rust in the airgun. I am lucky, 15 minutes from a dive shop that fills 4500 psi for paint ball type, 3050 on scuba tanks.
If you live in a dry area, then a hand pump, or cheap Chinese pump should be fine. If you live in a humid area, then keep your moisture filter up to the task. ( airgunners version of "keep your powder dry")

I hand pump my 3 PCP guns usually.

I have a 48ci Paintball tank with a ExpertHPA 1800psi reg that I can get filled in the summer at the local Paintball Complex, but they quit in the winter so Hand Pumping is my only choice 1/2 the year.
With Th bottle I can teather my Maximus and Sentry, but the S400 takes 3000 psi. So it is always by hand.

Funny thing is My Daughter the "Medical Assistant" was giving me a rough time about exercise. So I hooked up the Hand pump to the Maximus that was down to 800psi, let her give it a try. She made it about 5 strokes and said "That's Hard!".
I took over and brought it up to 2000 in 50 pumps and she was AMAZED!

I am still saving for a Shoebox...

I still hand pump quite a bit but on the guns with a big airtank I fill them with my SCBA, speak of the devil I should bring it along next time I go to the state land cause it's about due for a fill.

I have a SCUBA tank and a pump. Somedays I'll grab one or the other, no real rhyme or reason. I did use my hand pump exclusively for about 2 months recently and like Bentong mentioned, I could tell an improvement in my arm tone. I only target shoot in the backyard and have noticed if I have the pump out, I take my time and try to make the most of each shot, whereas with the tank I find myself ripping through them.

I feel the same as bentong, I only hand pump and see it as a positive to do so..

I like doing MEANINGFUL things the hard way, so that I don’t feel the need to go to a gym and pay to do MEANINGLESS things the hard way..

I have a Maximus and use a hand pump. I'm only about 140 lbs but it's not bad. I'm a new land owner with a few acres and a good riding lawn mower is priority (among other things): no compressor for me just now.

I hand pump all 4 of my pcp rifles. Not really a problem even at my age of 72. With that said. I find I spend a lot of time reading up on electric pumps, tanks, or nitrogen. Don’t mind pumping but hate to stop shooting to do it. It’s 104F and 4% right now. Just finished topping off the marauders. (In front of A/C). Now if I go outside, either they will blow up in the heat or I’ll kill over.

I have both. When hunting I typically just bring the pump because it is lighter and easier to fit in with all our gear.

Hand pump only. My first pump (around $75) is a few years old and still works but has a slight leak at times. I just bought another for around $50 and keep the old one as a backup. As inexpensive as hand pumps have become, I think if this one lasts half as long as the last I'll feel great.

2k psi fills are easier than filling the Marauder to 3k but even so it's not much more, the worst is if you ever have to fill from zero.

I know at some point I'll get tanks and then probably a compressor. Until then, hand pumping's not bad and it gives me time for the cheaper compressors to get more refined and a deeper knowledge base of parts and support to build.

Started out with a hand pump my first few years into PCPs, great exercise I told myself and it was until I got tired of it and didn't shoot as much. Then bought tank and Shoebox F10 then Yong Heng. Hand pumps sit in corner and collects dust, shooting is now fun and I am able to do it as often as I like.

Still pump, which is why my pcps are mostly just hunters now and I use the Springer a majority of the time.
