Well, off and on for the past couple of days something had been raiding the bait station. Tonight 2 hours after putting more PB out part of it was missing. So, I put more out and checked every few minutes since I hadn’t put the ding donged out and about 1/2 an hour later I saw movement and the rattus was leaning head first into the PB back legs gripping the top of the station. I grabbed the Compatto which was next to me on the rest, flipped opened the UTG’s scope covers turned the IR on, loaded a pellet, flicked the safety off and put the crosshairs on its noggin and let the 15.89 JSB go...thuck, it had found its mark and the rattus slumped down and off the station and onto the grass. Good size female about 13”. Put her in a zip lock and cleaned the Compatto and put EVERYTHING away including the tripod. Heading to post this I took one more look out..movement! Another rat was snooping around, so, I got everything out as quick as humanly possible slid open the sliding glass door and waited peering through the scope...gone...less than 10 minutes later I could see his head peeking around the station the cross hairs already on its mark and ppfffttt..thuck..he just collapsed. Two’fer! Had not had a two’fer in a over a year! Woo hoo! He was a young male about 11”.

Tom, thank you so much! As much as I hate to admit it...those rattus rattus are super elusive and smart like you said! On some (not all) I need to have the sliding glass door already open so they hear NOTHING, otherwise..poof they’re gone!

Ha I have had the same trouble, before a nights shooting I have taken to raising the window enough to get my fingers under to lift it. That way it is ready to open nice and noiseless. If I have to unlock it then try and lift it I make way to much noise and they are gone.
