Hints and Tips
I’m sure each of us has a tip that might be useful to others on here. Here’s a couple of mine to start things off.

1). When I get a new AG I like to research here as well as on other sites. I’d then Bookmark any good info. I usually end up with 8-10 bookmarks. Problem was/is finding the nub of info when I go back to a thread with a whole bunch of posts! Lately I’ve been doing a “copy/paste” into an Open Office document. I include the hyper link and an intro comment with the actual copy of the info. This way I don’t have to read thru 100s of comments to find the one entry I am interested in. Open Office doesn’t handle the picture too well so I’m trying the Pages App on my MacBook - no decision on that yet.

2). As I age gracefully I find I need to be more and more organized. At one time I could generally remember where I left ‘stuff’, not so much now. Items like scope covers, fill probes, tend to wander so now I’m trying to place these items in small pouches that I’ve labeled with the AG’s monicker. Now when I go from my workshop in the garage to the basement range the bag goes along. Found these on Amazon and they work well - just punch a hole for a hanging loop and mark the bag.

So what’s your helpful hint?

I don't trust the internet.  Things can "go away" - think Photo Bucket.  I don''t trust the "cloud" either - it's too dependent on somebody's whim.

If I find something which MAY be useful to me or others I download and save it.  This may be a cut and paste into a document of my creation or a straight download.  I even have a free program - PDF995 from a website of the same name.  It acts as a printer but instead of printing creates a pdf document I can then save.
I have a folder on my hard drive called "airgun info" housing other folders "Diana", "Crosman", etc.  These in turn may be further broken down into models.  I store stuff in the appropriate folder. 

All these files are small relative to the huge cheap hard drives available today.  (I do the same with music and photos.)

Here's my tip.

If you have a SWMBO that has a habit of 'organizing' stuff? DON'T leave bits and pieces laying on your table next to your chair.

If someone creates a site, that site is only there as long as it is paid for and maintained.
When I close my account, my site will disappear.

I've run into more than a few site not found error messages.

So as Thomas said, copy down what you want to keep.

One of the Sheriff's Deputies at the Lafayette Parish  [Louisiana] firing range gave me this little hint:  When sighting in a scope, make the adjustments necessary to get the "Point of Impact" you want.  But before shooting to confirm the adjustment, give the two turrets a firm tap or two [like with the plastic handle of a screwdriver].  Do this each time you make an adjustment.
Why?  <--->  Some scopes will have a little internal movement after adjustments are made.  The movement can be caused by the first shot after adjusting.  If you take just one shot, and it is a bulls eye, you may go away thinking that all is good.
Disclaimer:  Use common sense when applying the firm tap.  If you don't have any common sense, sell all your air guns and move to Ototojima Island.

Here is one from my days rebuilding Motorcycle Carbs (think 4 assemblies of tiny parts).
 When dissembling a gun on a worktable, pick up some of those disposable aluminum cup-cake pans. They are great for tiny screws, springs, washers, as well as other small bits.
 Oils and cleaners do not hurt them, and they are cheap and sturdy.
 Put the first pieces you remove in the top left then move right and down. Like when you read.
Then when you reassemble start at the bottom right and move back to the top left "reversed procedure".

Play-Doh has tiny tubs that make good pellet containers. Each one holds about 75 pellets. And for Sumatra owners, a 35mm film canister conveniently holds two cylinders.

  When taking your gun apart, take detailed photo's with your phone before each step. That way, you won't be standing there with a part in your hand saying, "now how does this part fit back in there?".

And don't throw away the pill bottles [mine are from Walgreens].  There are different sizes.  The one I use for the Stormrider magazines also holds 14 extra pellets.
