Just ordered a Sumatra 2500 in .25 cal and wondering which slug would be best to start testing and what grain. Will be a hunting gun med size pester. Thanks for helping a newb out.

i don't have one but go heavy, Airgunweb just redid a review, you pretty much have too many choices with it, people even deer hunt with them, up close, check out hunters supply, nielson specialty, for good cast slugs, pellet skirts most likely to blow apart on high.  i hope you enjoy the sumatra it is on my list on want's or the eagle claw (not available in usa)

About Pellets,  My Sumatra .22 loves just about every pellet, 28gr EunJin, 21gr Baracuda, 18gr Baracuda Hunter Hollowpoint, even the lowly Crosman 14.3gr at lower powers

i hope some of this helps, if you have a chrony you will have an easier time figuring it out, if your spread gets too big on some of the pellets then lower the power setting skirts can rip up sending them all over the place

You did not mention whether you have the carbine or the long barrel. I have the .25 carbine. Nielsen ammo sent me a bunch of samples in 40 and 65 grain with both solid and dished bases. I could not get any of them to shoot straight at 30 yards. Some of them didn't even hit the target. Good people though, and they bent over backwards trying to find me a decent slug. I did have success with mr. hollow points 58 grain hollow point slugs, and the 53 grain I believe, spitzers, however I have not shot them beyond 30 yards. Nielsen ammo did not want their samples back, so if you PM me your address I will send them to you if you like and you can try them.
