Hello, have been using my hatsan for a couple of weeks now.
After a scope as whenever I see rabbits and other critters at home they are around 40-55 yards away near sunset. After an etched glass with IR reticle mil-dot style. Have roughly $250-300 Australian dollars. Was looking at utg but local gun shop only has 2 models of theirs so hard to get a look in person, also what sort of mount should I get cause I heard they can be too far forward on it. Also anyone know if I can put a sling on this heavy bugger???
Cheers

Hi mate. See you have a Hatsan 125. How do you find it? I have had a Diana AR8 on order for about 3 months and the distributor still has a delivery date of To Be Advised.
I need it before Spring to break it in and set it up. Now looking for something else. I have chosen a Sports Match Damper mount and a Nikko Sterling 2-7x32 Air King scope
to put on it. The combination worked well on my Benjamin NP in .22 The Hatsan is looking like a good choice.

A springer rated scope with around a 4" eye relief should give you better mounting options, and be able to use the weaver style rail.

The Hawke Vantage IR scopes are very solid. I have a Vantage 3-9x40AO MD IR on my HW97 and I really love it, very fine and nice reticle.
Though you might consider to take a non AO version, since that will be one part less to get killed then...
I would put the scope on good 2 piece weaver mounts, like the ones from Sportsmatch.
Btw, do you own the spring or gasram version ? In my experience the gasram version has slightly less recoil.

I put the Sportmatch Dampa mount on my two 135's as insurance and no scope failure so far. I used some of the Hawke Airmax scopes, I seem to recall they're recommended for rifles with lots of recoil. Also believe Hawke suggested the 30mm tubes may be more durable than the 1" scopes.
