I sure did it this time. The safety on my 2240 came out while I had it opened up and the little ball bearing and spring went into another universe. After searching for an hour with a magnet and flashlight, I gave up. Looking for a replacement I saw on Amazon that they wanted nearly $10 with another $8 shipping for one spring and one ball bearing. There has to be a cheaper alternative. Call Crosman or find something down at Ace Hardware?

Hi Tom, is you can find an old bic type lighter, the flint spring can be cut and used for that little spring. I can send you a few balls no charge.
You have my email.

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

Same thing happened to me and so I took the ball out of one of those little ball maze party favors.
Worked just fine till I actually ended up finding the original late last year.

Those little ball key chains.... Shot from a shotgun shell or rat shot... I'm sure there are more options as well.
Give Davio at Alchemy Airwerks a holler... Or Rick at Precision Pellet.

Possibly the BB from a Gamo Rocket pellet 177 or 22...
Can't help with a spring though...

All I ever used was my zippo. But I quit 40+ years ago so it is just a souvenir now. Bob in WV is going to send me some balls and a spring -- free! What a good guy to know.
