Fedex or UPS

We have a handy FEDEX/Kinko's store. You can request that they hold at the store. Which is nice when your trying to sneak something past the airgun police...
Haven't had enough experience with them to compare to UPS - which almost always has some box damage. Luckily so far the contents have survived.

I don't want to shoot anybody or any company down, but my experience w/FedEx has been terrible.  Everytime and i mean EVERYTIME something has been sent to me through FedEx they always never delivered on the said date.  They even went to the point of lying by saying that they attempted to deliver but no one was there to pick up or answer.  Now all these times I swear that I was home...waiting, waiting and waiting, but they never came.  so there you have it, to me, they are unreliable.

Whew. had great luck with all of 'em over the years receiving model aircraft parts, etc. Delivery of my gun to my local FedEx/Kinkos for pickup went off without a hitch...not a scratch on the package. Kudos to Pyramyd for great packing. Granted both UPS and FedEx never knock loud enough to be heard before they stick the package under the door mat or behind a garden bush and bail. You guys are makin' me think hard about getting an AmEx card...altho i have had good luck with M/C successfully disputing bogus charges for me.

had the same experience with FEDEX on last shipment From PA.  I was home the whole time and then it said delevery attempted nobody was home.  I guess that is what happens whne they use contractors who could not get to all the packages and they do not want to get canned by FEDEX.

MY UPS terminal has one guy who always insists on me cutting open the box to see there is no pellets shipped with the rifle.  It really pisses me off as I do a good pack and then he wants to look inside and halfazz redo it.  I have tried numerous times to tell him that is not required.  I finally found a drop off location that has been in business for 28 years that just takes the box no questions.  It adds an extra day to the shipment and more handling but the guy at the terminal has driven me away from shipping from there

Well .......... as I get older and sooo much closer to my final slide to glory, I just hope my funky old worn out bod doesn't get shipped anywhere by either.
I did enough damage to it in the '60s, and have continued to pile on that ....... abuse ....... over the years, to the point that I absolutely friggen 'demand' a smoother ride to my final rest than either of them have rep to providing!!!

I have had better service from UPS.  FedEx has lost packages in transit for me twice.  One was never found.

Having my business here on my property, I get alot of deliveries here.

Fed up with FedEx
Most of the FedEx drivers I see around here are rude in traffic and surly on the very rare occation that one will go to the trouble of having me sign for a package.

Some of them can't read street signs well enough to know 'North Main St' from 'South Main St' which is clearly marked in the center of our small town.

When FedEx make drop off's they are lazy. They leave the package on the edge of the front porch where they don't have to go up three steps to put the package out of the rain, or away from where anyone passing by can see it and think no one is home. They rarely check to see if I'm here to sign for a package.

UPS
The UPS drivers are curtious in traffic, and friendly, cheerful, and polite when I sign for a package.

In the 19 years I've been here, they've never delivered any of my packages to the wrong address.

They always take the time to walk to the back of my house to make the delivery. If I'm not home, they leave the package on the back porch, up against the house, where it won't get rained on.

The  UPS drive who had this area for many years retired last year. He lives, and was based out of a UPS distrabution center about 40 miles away, but he was so well liked here that the local News Paper did a write-up about him with where to send cards of well wishes. I can tell you that will never happen with FedEx drivers

When a supplier gives a choice, I always ask for UPS to make the delivery.

Airiscool has the same Fedex guys I do in Orygun.

Last Saturday, as i was discovering all the damage to my UPS delivered FWB,
my neighbor was getting a package from Fedex.  Since I had seen him leave a
few minutes earlier,I ran out to try and get his delivery completed.
((he has a side business building very high end fly rods and his own design
fly reels.  Not to mention the fly collections he ties with extict bird feathers from
Chineese museums, that fetch $500+ per fly.  Some single feathers cost over $1K)))
His mother who was my neighbor for 20 years, just passed last week, and the Fly Guy
had been living there for the last 2 years, most days to nurse her....
I know, this sounds like a made up story,  but all is gospel truth.

The Fedex guy walked up to the house with one hand held to his ear on a cell...
Started writing the sticker, when I offered to sign.....
"only FlyGuy sig will do.." sez  the cell phone wielding one.   
So I ask if he could stop by again later if he is still in the area...
"one stop per day" sez the surly one..
I ask, can I have cell # to let him know when Mr. Fly gets home...
"NO,  one stop per day" sez he, as he smiles from his position of holding all the
cards and the package my friend needs. 
That arrogant smile was his final communication.

Mr. Fly really needed that package as part of a shippment to Russia...

All above probaly sounds like fiction.....but fact can really amaze us sometimes.
(besides, I am not that creative)

One more credibility test....
Fly Guy knows Robert Beeman from waaay back.
He once had one of the .25 R-1's...really regrets selling it.

I have ordered several items from our own PyramydAir who uses FEDEX. I am so FEDUP with their delivery of damaged packages that I have included letters in things that I have returned to PyramydAir letting them know that all the damage they see was there when I received the package. I got so used to the damage from my auto parts supplier that I came up with the phrase, "You know what you are getting with FEDEX delivery because you can see it sticking out of the box". I have received a ton of stuff over many years delivered by UPS and have NEVER had package damage and I get a lot of stuff from Amazon.com which uses UPS.

UPS always at least rings the doorbell when making a delivery and leaves it right in front of the door if we are not at home. FEDEX comes at ALL times of the day or night and plops it somewhere on the porch and walks away with NO notice given (we get a lot of morning surprises over this).

When I used to go to a FEDEX office to send something (which I don't do anymore), I either had to holler to get someone's attention or wait in a line while the staff joked around with each other over a bunch of nonsense while ignoring those waiting until it was convenient for them to wait on us and then we were treated like pests that just had to be dealt with. When I go to the UPS office, I am greeted with extreme courtesy as if I were a valued customer and made to feel at home while I am there.

The smallest comparison is that UPS is a little cheaper than FEDEX.

I have come to the conclusion that there is a difference in company hiring policy that makes a difference. I have yet to meet a UPS employee that wasn't knowledgeable, polite, caring and friendly. I have yet to meet a FEDEX employee that is any of these!

I use UPS despite the fact that they are a bunch of union workers, I've recieved  from Fed Ex but never shipped through them. I've shipped USPS but they are too expensive for large items. The local UPS guys are all hunters and shooters too, so we get along well. One of the delivery drivers is an avid air gunner. I've had no problems with any of them, but I have a problem with dropping off a package to the local Post Office and dealing with a "man" in his 60's that has painted nails and ear rings, maybe I'm too square.

This is a followup on my previous posting on this subject.

Received a new Crosman Nitro Venom last night with a FedEx (FedUp) delivery and, as expected, no doorbell ring, no knock, nothing! Not even a delivery notice. And, as expected, the reinforced sealing tape on one end of the carton was broken open and the cardboard crushed from apparently being thrown or dropped hard. I've really had it with this company!!!

And today; Just received a new stock from Crosman which they sent via UPS; it arrived safely, intact, and looks as if it just got packaged. What a difference!

Just shipped a package UPS. FedEx is not running where we live. The floods 90 miles to the West have the roads blocked and closed and FedEx doesn't want to drive the 200 miles around the back roads to get to our location.

So, like them or not - today it is UPS. Their nearby place is a bit more than an hour in the other direction and they are still running the routes.

Just to add to FedUp's woes, when I received my Ruger Air Magnum via FedEx, one end of the package was crushed as if it had been dropped hard or tossed and the styrofoam packing around the rifle was broken up. The butt pad of the rifle, which was where the crushed packing was, looked like it had been dropped on the ground. Just more fuel to the fire. Yeckk!

Just don't understand why so many air rifle vendors continue to use this company for their shipping!!!

i have had perfect service with fedex. i have had substandard service (Very substandard) with ups and usps. i could go on about what and why but only if you really want to hear it. i only ship fedex anymore. and if at all possible when i order i will specify fedex. i have refused to sell and buy a few times because of ups shipping. what a pain in the ... they r. and my local postal carrier shouldn't even be allowed to operate a motor vehicle. seriously.

i guess it's a toss up and more pertinent to what kind of local help and drivers etc you have. or vendetta they have against you. my experience is the same as yours except opposite with fedex and ups. fedex is awesome and ups blows

I've gad very good lucky with both companies but I preffer fedx mainly because they deliver to my area before 1pm every single time.. ups on the other hand drops off packages sometime between 3 and 7.. idk about you guys but the waiting on the day of delivery is killing me.. so ibuse fedx whenever I can since I will get up to 7 or 8 hrs sometimes even up to 10hrs before ups would drop it off
