Crosman air 17 who still has one?

As the title says. I still have mine from the 80’s rebuilt it after sitting for years. Did notice the barrel is a smoothbore and accuracy wasn’t good so I ordered a barrel from the crosman m4 177 which has a rifled barrel. What a difference it made in the accuracy department😳 at 15 yards less than dime size groups in my 15 yards basement range vs  the smooth bore barrel if I’m lucky half dollar groups at best but most of the time it was a shotgun blasts. It was money well spent on the rifled barrel. Best upgrade for the air 17😎

I've still got one. Actually was impressed with how well mine wants to group with pells. Been wanting to try it with a rifled barrel.

I found the one in the closet some 2 years ago built 1/87. Had bought it for my #2 son when he was 8. Fixed it up and gave it back to him in a nice hard case Christmas '16.

How is the 17 shooting at what distance? Didn’t like the smoothbore barrel but that all change when I change the barrel to a rifled barrel from the crosman m4 177😎

I tested it against my junk mail-filled backstop in the man cave. Not allowed to shoot outside around here and basement cold/damp.

I don’t remember what ever happened to it; but decided quite some time ago, that if I ever come across one at a yard sale or such; I’ll definitely be buying it! Oh the memories...

How was the accuracy? Shooting pellets or bb’s? How many yards in the basement?

That rifle was the number one reason that, when I saw this DPMS at Tractor Supply; I had to have it! Totally different gun. But the memories...

Like the 760 it's loosely based on, pellets were more accurate. A little hold over in the man cave, being less than 10yds. Too bad it couldn't pump more than once.

My dad wanted one for a really long time, and back in December he was given a decent deal on one from a member here who responded to a want add I posted for him.
I cleaned it up for him and everything and it shoots pretty well.
It'll hit pill bottles pretty consistently at 10yds.
All it needed was a good wipe down, light rust removal and clean out / flush as it would sometimes leak
A rifled barrel would definitely do it some good, but he's fine plinking with it the way it is.

One thing I should mention is that they're not super easy to take apart, it's like a 760 with a body kit slid over it that you gotta get off first.

Btw my dad shoots this better than his other guns because an m-16 is the rifle he has fired the most. Being in the ARMY from 78-91 he wanted one at the time as his rifle couldn't follow him home for some indoor plinking, he didn't like the price though so he passed then it was too late.

Ironically it costed him about $60 last year, but I guess $60 in today's money is less plus the gun is a 30 year old classic now.
