How do you degas a Prod?

I have the degassing tool for the Marauder, but how do you degas the Marauder Pistol?  Do they make a special degassing tool for the pistol?  I've not seen one, thus my question...  Thanks...

i just use the tank/pump to pop the fill valve then open the bleed VERY slowly and let it trickle out ... maybe there is a tool for it, however i never bothered looking for one.

I would think it'd be faster to just shoot it out.

I think a tool does exists,i use a steel rod thru the preload adjustment and a screw the same size of the adjuster to push the rod.It works.

C. Overfll:
•Over flling beyond the “as tuned” best fll pressure does not improve performance. It lessens performance
and may cause the valve to lock. For instance a gun tuned for best performance at 2,500 psi may partially
valve lock at 3000 psi. If you discover that the air pistol has been over flled, try to dry fre (cock and shoot
with no pellet loaded) the air pistol in a SAFE DIRECTION until the pressure on your air pistol drops to the
pressure where your gun was tuned to perform best.
•If the air pistol will not discharge air with each shot, the valve may be completely pressure locked and
require use of the degassing tool # PCPDT4 available at www.crosman.com , or contact Crosman Customer Service at 1-800-724-748

Goes in the back where you adjust hammer spring, turn in and it lets all the air out! Works well! Until you put a stock adapter or any kind of of adjuster .. SSG or similar.

I just shoot it out.  When there is no pellet being shot, a lot more air moves down the barrel per shot, so it doesn't take too long before you're getting a "click" rather than a "pow".

If you use the balanced valve don't even think about shooting out the pressure you'll ruin the valve poppet.  I have a degassing tool for both my Mrod and my Prod.

Didn't realize rthey could be so fragile....will re-evaluate.   I only degas it about once a year for inspection / cleaning, so it doesn't get to empty all that often...but I'll consider it.

I used to unscrew the gauge on a paintball regulator to degass,the result was a stripped thread and a flying gauge,be careful with aluminium threads,as others stated if there is no tool the bleed method is safer.

If I was going to do the gauge method I'd shoot it down to less then 1000psi, that would make it a little safer and probably less stress on the gauge threads.

This is a good idea for sure,but is better to use this method only if there is not other way available,i think.

Fabio back when I bought both my Mrod and my Prod I also bought the degassing tool.  On both guns I use the TSS however the degassing tool won't
work with the TSS on there but what I do is put the old original cap back on and then degas it, it takes a little longer than a stock gun but like you said
it's really the safest way to do it.

I ended up buying one direct from Crosman, with eh discount code it was a few cents cheaper than PA.  I tried to get one on eBay, the seller had the "Make Offer" button.  He was asking $24.95, I offered $20, he countered at $24.50, I countered at $21, he countered again at $24.25, I sent him a PM and told never mind, I could get it direct from Crosman for cheaper!  With discount it was $22.20 plus another 4% cash back from Giving Assistance, $21.31 after everything!  Some of the Ebay sellers like their stuff too much!  Thanks again fore all the help!

Seems wrong to me to throw money at ever single issue that comes along. You don't need to buy anything. And a few who have called Crosman latley, have been told buying the degas tool will cause the warranty to be voided. GRRRR! Sounds fishy to me. Crosman said it indicated that the guns were being gone into. 

Save your money. Crosman charges a foolish amount for a threaded rod. If you just have to have one, go the hardware store and buy a long bolt for a buck or two. 

If your old school and don't throw money at everything you're not learning or too lazy to learn, try this.

Fill until internal fill valve clicks open. Close tank, crack open degas valve on tank, go have a cold beverage.

Done and Done. No cracked poppet from dry firing, no worn out hand from cocking a hard cocking MRod. Didn't cost a cent! What could be easier?

Yep, nothing like replacing poppets from dry firing too much.

There are more brands than Crosman out there. Crosman will break the poppet, yes. Maybe after many dry fires, maybe only a few. Try it with a high quality AG like a Rapid. Or a lower quality like a  Kral.  Either will break in short order.

Sadly, many reading this thread will think since it can work on such a cheap ag as a crosman,(For a while), it must be O.K. on any airgun. Terrible mistake!

Great thing about America is I can be as lazy as I want.  I shot it out to degas it the last time and 2 years later still have had no problems, but I'm sure I will...  And as soon as I do, someone much more knowledgeable then me will get this gun with a few simple changes I request and I'll have a BETTER gun, then I'll move on.
