Hello All,
I recently purchased two new air rifles, first one was the Browning Leverage .22 and the second one was a Hatsan Torpedo 100X .22.
I shot the Browning one time and was looking it over when the 100X showed up. Well I don't know why but I started shooting the 100X and sort of forgot about the Browning. I know that was not right!
Well it is time to put some time into the Browning and see how I like this springer compared to the 100X gas piston.
As I start shoot the Browning I was wondering if there are any problems that I should watch for?

Browning Leverage is an under lever gun. Shouldn't have barrel droop. It is a heavy gun.

Mine had droop AND "lean" (barrel was bent down and to the right). In spite of all that, I smoked a lot of squirrel my first two years of hunting them, all with my Leverage. As far as what to watch out for: be careful when you remove the action from the stock, as the pins that retain all the trigger bits are not captured by anything other than the inside of the stock. I used to just wrap a little masking tape around the trigger group when I disassembled it, if it wasn't the trigger I was messing with. When using the included sights, if you find you have to adjust the rear sight (windage) all the way (or almost all the way) to one side, look for the barrel to be bent, or the front sight to be clocked a few degrees to one side or the other. If memory serves there is only a grub screw securing the whole clunky front sight/cocking arm locking assembly. Loosen the screw and you can rotate the assembly to better align the front sight (somewhat). The fake weaver mount: I suggest getting rid of it. I just used the dovetail under it, and planted my scope stop screw in the middle of one of the "reliefs" cut into the airtube (for the fake weaver mount screws). Never had a problem with scope walk/questionable accuracy after that. If your trigger is like mine was, the finish of the pieces will be pretty rough. If you pay attention and draw a diagram, the trigger is easy to remove/hone/smooth out. Be warned: there are a lot of pieces for such a simple single stage. Lastly keep an eye on the rear mount. It's just a tab that the rear screw threads into. Mine broke off and I had to reweld it. As far as I know I am the only person to complain about that tab, so I assume I just got a weak one. Mine was a junk-box of a gun (sloppy and noisy no matter what I did to it), but it was pretty powerful and accurate. It was also simple to work on (other than the trigger). Enjoy that gun!

Where can I find a parts breakdown of this rifle? I would like to look at a good breakdown of the trigger assembly before I take it apart. I checked with the UMAREX web sight and they say you can view their parts diagrams but I can't find them.

I disassembled the Browning today, it is shooting great but that trigger feels like grinding metal not smooth movement.
I can see how someone could loose the different pins, they should have made them with an interference fit. Next the trigger looks like it was part of a toy gun. I will have to make another complete trigger or put a piece of steel inside the sheet metal trigger. The 3mm hole on the trigger has a large burr on the side, no doubt part of the metal grinding feel and noise I had.

Now let's stop a minute I am not cutting up this rifle. I still love it's looks and the way it shoots. These are just quality issues that I feel need to be corrected, for me. It may not bother other rifle owners.

I see that the slot or opening in the trigger housing for the trigger is right around .290. The trigger is .240, that leaves .050 slop.
If I make a new trigger I can install a small 3mm x 6-7mm bearing inline with the trigger pin. But I will have to heat treat the top part of the trigger in order to get a sharp clean contact edge.
From what I can see inside the trigger housing, I don't believe a trigger that is .280 to .290 thick with a couple of shims will have any clearance problems.
I believe I will sit back and think this fix over for a while.

I have 2 Browning Leverages.
One is the 1000 fps model.
The other is the 490 fps model (Canadian Model).
They are both excellent guns and accurate.
They are more accurate than break barrels.
They are heavy, about 10 pounds with the scope mounted.
The scopes are better than the average supplied scopes.

I would have to agree with you on Browning Leverage being an excellent gun, I like mine.
May I ask you a question? Since I have mine disassembled, do you oil or grease the main piston spring?

I was planing to remove my sight since I don't use the open sights. I would like to use a barrel clamp like I saw on the Archer web site. What size would I order? Has anyone used them on their Leverage, or XS46U rifles.

In reference to finding a barrel clip. I finally got through to the web site I was talking about above. The man there said the clip is for a B3 barrel and that barrel has a 15mm OD. My Leverage barrel has a 16mm OD, but the barrel clip is made of spring steel. I should be able to resize the clip, I order a pair of clips for around $10.00.
Hopefully when I have my new trigger complete the clips will arrive.

Here's the same clip I just put on my XS46U. I got this idea from a member here. He modified it an placed his farther back. I placed mine forward a little and it clips firmly onto the front of the lever, no modification of the clip.

Hello Everyone,
Well I decided to make a new solid steel trigger, I ordered the 2 bearings that I decided to use in the trigger. The bearings have arrived and the B3 barrel clips also arrived.
I will be back in a day or so, I injured my eye today and I can't look at the computer screen very long at one time. so I will be back with pictures.

As I mentioned earlier I decided to replace the original trigger with a solid steel trigger.
I determined that 2 small ball bearings positioned in the new trigger would work very well. I drilled a 7 mm hole in place of the original trigger pin hole in the new trigger. The trigger pin was 3 mm and just a hair loose in the trigger housing.
I drilled out the 3 mm hole in the housing with a #22 drill bit (.1570) . I then used a 4 mm drill bit shank (.1575) and polished it until it fit the bearings and the trigger housing.
The 4 mm shank fits snug in the bearing ID. The 2 ball bearings are only 2 mm wide so I placed a piece of rubber tubing (.125) between the 2 bearings. This will keep the bearings on the outside edges (left and right sides) of the trigger. The trigger width will be snug fit to the ID of the trigger housing. When everything is complete I will remove the trigger and polish the sides so I have a smooth trigger pull.
Once this main hole was drilled I laid the original trigger on a piece of 5/16th” x 1 1/2” x 3” steel. The trigger was cut out about a 1/16th” larger all the way around. Then it was filed and polished to size. (About 4 hours of loving what your doing.)
I pre-fit the trigger without the trigger springs and everything worked fine, for now!
The contact edge of the trigger was hardened and the trigger was blued almost black.
The trigger is wider and thicker then the original trigger so the outer most tip of the safety trigger had to be filed down a bit to fit in front of the new trigger.
I set the blued parts aside for 24 hours to soak up some oil to preserve the bluing.

I was also talking about removing the front sight in this post. I received my B3 barrel clamps and installed one of them. Looks good and works great.
