Good .22 pellets for Norica rifles

Did some more testing with the Hawk GRS trigger. I have to say that it's getting better: the first stage is bit sloppy, but second stage is very predictable. Still not as good as Weihrauch trigger, but I cannot even expect it to be with this price.

Also, it was a nice surprise that Norica actually just approached me and offered a service manual for the trigger. They are following the customer feedback via this forum

Received ..and tested a bit ( but not enough )
 - there are actually 3 adjusting screws to the trigger - which is nice - and the 1st impression after just few shots seems to be that it can be made better
- I suppose that this isn't reading in manual supplied with the rifle because there's a line "Any modification of the trigger group may cause accidental discharge" and thus want to clear the issues of some ignorant piece of two-handed being shooting themselves in the eye accidentally 

But if anyone Norica owner with three screws up their triggerhood is in need of these instructions then I'll be happy to give them forward too, as was the 'walrus' giving them to me - my fellow Finnish sniper

No problemo. Glad to help. I can understand that the manufacturer does not want to share this information in the manual supplied with the gun. One should remember that it's always risky to do changes to the trigger adjustments without adequate knowledge. I always test my guns carefully after any changes to the trigger.

Dunno if this is any good info, but now that I've tested the cheap Norica 'pointed ones', Baracuda Hunters and Baracuda Powers I can say that the middle one of those suits me best ( the pointed are quite ok, but not so consistent as the Hunters - and the Powers are just too heavy for this gun.. as 'walrus' suspected too in his email to me )

Here's a pic I just shot with those Hunters.. the marked hits are shot from a hard support, there are actually 5 hits ( I know it's not a right way to do it with a gasram or springer, you should keep your hand under the stock.. but didn't have anything better now.. ) and those four other hits are from kneeling position ( and that's not too steady to make groups with my shooting skills ) - the distance was +30 meters ( that's some 35 yards maybe ? ) - but there's a significant difference in POI when shot with hard support ( the left group ) and with artillery hold ( the right "group" - I admit that the 5th shot hit the frame of that target holder, that's how steady I am  ) 

But while waiting to get a better shooting support table done where I can use my sandbag with my hand on top that (or something) I'm happy with this result considering the circumstances..

This Norica Hawk is also the most civilized springer / gasram I've ever shot - it's super quiet and the recoil is really small ( compared to for example my neighbor's Gamo Big Cat Hunter .22 springer which almost deafens you and bounces so hard that it almost drops out of your hands if holding it like this Hawk  )

I shoot off a bench and sand bag all the time. Artillery hold in back with my firing hand, cheek and shoulder. Non firing hand under the butt stock and the forearm or piece across the sand or shot bag. I have a couple of guns like the hand on the bag under the fore piece. Usually that's a gun that jumps sideways a little.

I love my Noricas .177 Black Hawk and .22 Massimo. I prefer .177. Maybe I need to put in a want-to-trade ad for a .177 Massimo.

I'm waiting to see if the price is going to come down on the Marvics they're selling here in the USA.

Why do you prefer .177? Is it less hold sensitive?

I finally got to test my Hawk. As SixStars said, it's a very smooth shooting rifle. However, despite of the low recoil, this thing is almost as hold sensitive as Hatsan 125. I was able to get maybe 1 inch groups at 35 yards but not consistently. This thing wants to throw random "flyers" every now and then, probably due to the hold sensitivity. I tried many different holds and strangely this one seems to like tight hold. I got my best groups by pressing the rifle tight against my shoulder

Also, I had to do some modifications already: the pellet chamber was too tight for most pellet types to fit in properly. I used a shaped wooden rod with JB paste to grind / polish it for more space. Seemed to work fine and no more issues fitting pellets in. This also reflected to the accuracy in a positive way.

I will probably open this baby at some point and at least re-lube & de-burr. Does anyone know if these Norica GRS-rifles require a spring compressor. I watched some video and to me it seemed that there was not that much preload in the gas-ram.

I don't hunt. Just punch paper and kill wine bottle corks and a empty cat food can sometimes. I prefer .177 for more velocity. and range. I can use heavier pellets if I want a .22 effect. The .22's I have are because it was the only caliber I could get those gun in at the time like my Norica Massimo or some of my Mendozas or they're dual cal. guns like my Beeman RS2, QB57 and Hammerli x2 made by Mendoza and my Beeman 2016w double barrel .177/.22.

By the way Amazon has the Norica Black Eagle on sale for $99 again as well as the Mendozas for $99. Mendozas are made in Mexico and are an acquired taste. I like them, some don't. Tney're powerful and I like the dual trigger.

Well something on topic too, haven't bought any new pellets for this but I did notice that those cheap Norica pointed ones were not that bad after all - they do hit pretty consistent too now that there's a few hundred shots done with this rifle
