Curious if anyone has replaced the factory moderator with a DonnyFL Sumo. I found an adapter that fits over the groove in the barrel so no threads would need to be cut. Doesn't have to be a DonnyFL, but that one seems to be the easiest route.

Im not sure but I believe I read on here the factory one is a PITA to remove...I like the stocker..smarter guys than me will be along...good luck

I don't have any issues with my out-of-box GAMO Urban. I paid $238 to my door for the gun and as long as it functions like it does I have no reason or desire to invest any more into it. I have plenty of other guns to tinker with that can benefit from a little bench time.

Where did you you find the adapter? Have you already removed the stock pickle? How did you get it off? I'd like to quiet the Urban a bit mire, and came up with a jerry-rigged way to do it. but it made it much longer. I'd like to keep it short like stock!

I understand there is also a full shroud option, but have not looked into that yet.

Paul... I saw a picture of one with the full shroud. It looks good. I don't have any info on it but I might have the picture. If I were so inclined to do an upgrade this may very well be the one I would do....

Yep, that's it! I need to find out who makes that and the cost. I wonder if this is something David (Rocker1) can do? That looks sooo much better than that stock pickle, and is probably much quieter!

Yeah.... I'm not even sure where I got the picture. If I had that I think I would put a barrel band on it like the MRod. Not tight but, just to protect it in case of a duck foot move.

I've read here, from one of modding members, that you would need to destroy the stock ldc to remove it.

In one of my recent British AG mag, the Urban/Phox was advertised with a removable, skinnier shroud. This may be the future, updated version which may eventually come across the pond to us.

Paul,

Member Vash545 makes a shroud for the Urban and I think that picture is of his work. I don't have an Urban or Lee's shroud, I do have a custom Prod stock that he designed, Lee does very nice work.

I'm currently putting an R-10 shroud on one of my urbans. The previous owner had attempted to remove the factory beer bottle thingy and cut into the barrel so I cut it shorter and re crowned. I still need to cut the back of the shroud mount so it will match the breech profile and butt up against it. I also plan to shorten the shroud about 3 inches. Works really well and makes the rifle look totally different. It's in my coyote stock because I like the urban stock better on the coyote.

Lee made a shroud for my urban and it really looks good.It also made it quieter.To bad they don't shroud it at the factory.

Actually I think they started with that, and were running into legal trouble with the removable moderator. I was just reading somewhere that they had to prove that the LDC couldn't be removed without being destroyed and they had to show testing that it couldn't handle the pressure of a 22 cartridge or the ATF would consider the moderator itself a firearm.

I talked to Vash43 last year regarding the shroud work he does and would go that route in a heartbeat if it wasn't a bit out of my range. I do like the looks of the R10 shroud, that may be an option. I've grown used to the look of it as well, just wish it had a bit less "pop" to it.
