Finally got a Plinkster

Finally broke down and ordered a Mrodair Plinkster in .22.  I wanted a .22 repeater for my starling issue. I wanted a decent gun on the low end of cost and I like co2. The Plinkster fills the bill. Here's a ten shot string at 45 feet, off hand. I was shooting CPHP's. Tried flat nosed pellets but the mag does not feed them as smooth as it feeds round nose or pointed pellets. Decent trigger, decent fit and finish, light weight, and accurate without fiddling. The Chinese have come a long way in ten years (when I started this thing).

Good looking gun ..how many rounds can the clip hold and can you keep pulling the trigger or do you have to cock it for every shot ?..also were did you order it..my 1077 is not working and this gun looks mighty tasty..

It's a great deal from Mrodair. $109 shipped. The .22 mag holds 7 shots and the .177 mag holds 9 shots. I got the .22 version as I simply prefer .22 for both plinking and small pest control. You have to cock it for every shot. That's OK with me. Co2 does not usually lend itself to fast shooting. I gave it a 30 second rest between shots to warm up. I got about 30 good hard shots out a cart. It's an interesting design. The gas tube holds three carts but only the bottom one is pierced. The other two are there as spacers. They can be spares or spent. OK OK full disclosure is in order. That was only sort of off hand. I was leaning against my sliding door frame. It was snowing up a storm and too cold to go out to shoot a Co2 gun. Phew! Glad I got that off my conscience. 
I don't usually buy a new gun, at this point in my evolution in this hobby. I'm a vintage guy. Glad I got this one though.

Stuart the Varmint (PR900W) is also a really nice gun too, very powerful for such a lightweight carbine as well as being accurate also.  I'm hooked on the SPA guns, I've had really good luck with them.  I just got parts Fedex today from China for my SPA M16, I plan on doing some tinkering with that gun soon.

I still like mine (.177 for vaarous reasons)..although as my weather warms up, I like it more once again.

Can';t match your off hand shooting (well...once in awhile the red-gods forget to look my way and one group slips by their disruptive gaze).
Kinsd of odd that the tube hols 3 12gr., but really only runs on one 12gr....but where better to store 2 "spare" 12gr. but in the tube?

4 PREDICTIONS:
If you do like quiet, will eventually dump the facotry LDC for somthig more "active".

Mags. are certainly useful for hunting,but for chornographing.target shootng, generl plaing around, the sinle shot tray will get the most use eventually.

Sooner or later,you'l get to adjsting the "hidden"trigger adjusting  screw (whichishiddwn under the front cross pin of the trigger unit).

The warmner it gets (up to about 85-90F) the more you will like it.

Stuart the Varmint (PR900W) is also a really nice gun too, very powerful for such a lightweight carbine as well as being accurate also.  I'm hooked on the SPA guns, I've had really good luck with them.  I just got parts Fedex today from China for my SPA M16, I plan on doing some tinkering with that gun soon.

That gun has come closer to making me hit the PAY NOW button than any other PCP out there. Just ideal for offhand plinking/woods walking, wood/metal construction at a killer price, plus multi shot to boot. If it drops another dime, I know I'll bite!

Mark it's too bad that Mrodair doesn't have anymore of the Varmints in stock anymore, I know there's a big issue with the Diana version with the LDC's literally non removable because they used some hard core glue on them, some guys have literally cut the LDC's off their guns because of it.  There's a lot of guns Mike still shows on his website that he doesn't have in stock anymore.

My last purchase from Mrodair was the CP2 (alias master blaster) that just screams legoability.



Can you imagine how light this configuration would be after I put a PR900W tube, valve, etc on it to turn it into a PCP !!!  Not only that I already know that my Varmint(PR900W) is capable of 30fpe already!

These little SPA CO2 guns are just a hoot to shoot and tinker with.  We have wild temperature swings here so looking forward to playing with HPA options.  The CP2 skeleton stock is "just right", though the CP1 & Plinkster wood is very good as well.

I didn't know the Plinkster was gone. Probably not much hope of him getting more, although anything is possible I suppose. I also hadn't heard the Diana version has a "permanent" moderator.

That CP2 is a screaming deal, for sure. I have the CP1M from mrodair and I got the CP2 shoulder stock when it came available. But it needs at least an 18" barrel for what I use it for. I had hoped Mike would be able to supply the rifle barrel from the CP2 but that seems to be dead. If I'd have known then what I do now, I'd have sold the CP1M and bought the Master Blaster. I should just get one anyway and sort out what to do w/the surplus later!

I looked at that gun and several other intro pcp rifles. Just have not gotten to the point where I'm ready to get into a whole new side to this thing. Besides the fact that I'm really a vintage guy. Hmmmmmm
I'll probably pick up some pcp guns in thirty years or so.

Mark I just checked and Mike still has the Plinksters in stock yet for $109 which is a really good deal but who knows for how much longer, I suspect until they run out I guess, it would be nice if Mike could let us know what's going on with his airgun stuff

Wayne you're making it hard for me to resist! I was always of a mind like fuse- no real reason to get into a whole 'nuther deal, I already have a springer, pumpers and CO2. And if I know myself at all, I'd not be stopping at just one. Then there's the need for some sort of pump. Still, so dang tempting!

Mark recently I started using a hand pump again because the guy that was filling my tanks is now retired from his regular job and won't be back for about a month, I talked to him on the phone last weekend and he told me to give him a call in early April when he'll be back from his winter place in Florida (he told me about it but I didn't think it was going to happen so quick), he said he basically just needs to get his compressor hooked up again, it's a big 3 cylinder commercial one that got him really going in his dive shop business so it won't be long and I'll be able to get my tanks filled again.  I really want a decent compressor bad these days though because the only other place that I can get tanks filled is 20 miles away and they only fill to 4K.  It probably won't be long and I'll be buying me a compressor now.    YES that rabbit hole does go deeeeeeeep

Wayne if I could be sure that one or two PCP guns would be all I'd own at any given time, I'd settle on a decent hand pump and call it good. But what I see is guys who think they just want to get a taste of the PCP life, and end up going all-in. I'd really like to avoid buying a hand pump then a shoebox or larger self contained pump to fill lord-only-knows what kind and how many PCP guns and/or SCBA tanks, etc! Thankfully I have enough projects that I've sworn I would finish before getting anything else new or new to me, to keep me occupied for quite some time. Then who knows- by then there may be a 'better mousetrap' that makes what I want today basically obsolete.
