Hatsan Proxima 25 coming

Been reading and watching vids about this gun but didn't want to drop $400.00 on one. Well, Hatsan sent me an e mail offering 16% off their refurbs. I took a look at their site and they had one in 25 caliber left so I bought it for $282.00 shipped. Shipping was $5.00

I have purchased 2 other refurbs in the past from Hatsan and Pyramyd and both were like new so I am hoping this one will be the same. Why a rifle that was recently introduced is being sold as a refurb I don't know.

I will have some reviews coming when the weather breaks on the Proxima, Torpedo 150 Sniper, RWS48, and Kral N-07. All refurbs except the RWS48.

I had purchased some refurbs in the past. Only had a problem with one from PA. But they fixed it with no problems. All the rest were like new. Hopefully you get a good one.

I bought a .177 Proxima from PA at a discount before they were in stock.  I think I paid about $360 something. You're going to enjoy it. The repeater part works flawless.

I bought several refurbs from PA. Including some old stuff they must have found in the back of the warehouse. A Mendoza RM 2800 break barrel repeater and a RM200. A Norica Massimo. They all came in heavy duty plain brown boxes with cut to fit foam and stickers on the outside saying 'show material'. Like new. I got a TF59 refurb recently from them had busted piston seal. Replaced it with a seal from an old parts RS2 I had. Shoots fine now.

Thanks for the positive replies fellows. I'm glad to hear good things about the repeater part, this will be my first. The reviews I came across were mixed so I was kind of on the fence about getting one but at $282.00 delivered I took the plunge.

The Proxima was delivered Thursday, must have got a lemon. Has some time on Friday so I loaded a mag, grabbed the rifle and stepped outside for a few shots. I released the cocking handle and cocked it back and it's been in the position since. The cocking arm is stuck fast in the open position.

With or without the mag installed the cocking arm safety button will not budge. Hatsan supplied a piece of paper listing a 10 shot average velocity of 680fps so someone there shot this gun 10 times before it shipped. I can't get it to shoot once.

If anyone has an idea of what the heck is wrong with his gun I would greatly appreciate any pointers on what I can do to fix this issue. I contacted Hatsan detailing the problem but won't get a response until Monday at best.

One more thing. I don't see how the gun  knows if the mag is installed or not. There is no sensing hardware in the chamber area that is depressed, lifted, lowered, etc.
The manual is pretty much useless. Very little information on the gun and filled with mostly warnings.

 It sounds like you only set the bear trap and not fully cocked the gun. Pull that lever a little farther and you will hear another click. Should work then.

The mag slide in just one way. The clear part to the rear. Load it so looking thru the clear back part you see the backend of the pellets.

When you look into the breach it looks like a little bit of the back end of the barrel it sticking out.

The silver or gray part of the mag faces forward. To insert the mag the flat bottom of the mag is down the 90 degree corner goes in the breach first. There is a groove about 10mm wide and rounded at the end on the front bottom of the mag. That groove slide over the portion of the barrel sticking into the breach. When you move the cocking lever forward the probe goes thru the mag and pushes the pellet into the chamber. The gun is just dumb metal. It senses nothing.

I prefer to put the gun away with the magazine out. But when you fire the last pellet and cock the gun back and remove the magazine you're left with a cocked gun and you don't want to dry fire to uncock the spring. So I load one pellet, slide the mag into the gun, move the cocking arm forward so the probe slides the pellet into the chamber, pull the lever back to the rear leaving the pellet in the chamber, remove the mag slide the lever back forward and shoot the pellet out into the ground or at a target and the guns uncocked without dry firing.

Don't mean to talk down. Just trying to be clear.

When the gun's cocked all the way the release lever should move when touched or giggled. If the release lever is tight and unmoving the gun is not cocked all the way. The gun is a bear to cock.

You guys are great, thanks much. What I wasn't doing was pulling back again on the cocking arm to release it.....duh. Sometimes I'm such a bonehead.

I do however have another problem, actually 2 I think. The mags do not move freely and the back edge of the skirts are getting damaged. I loosened the small screw in the center but it made no difference. The biggest problem is that it feeds a pellet but the cocking arm stops about 1.5" before it locks up under the barrel and will not move any further. I've tried this several times. Gently remove the "stuck" pellet, cock again and the same thing happens. There is no obstruction that I can see in the chamber so I don't know what's going on.

This is really getting annoying, I've never had problems like this with any air gun I own. It is a refurb but it should still work. I may have to send it back to Hatsan and tell them I don't want it back.
And yes, it is a bear to cock.

Good luck on your refurb return. I had an unpleasant experience with a HatsanUSA 105X refurb that was very inaccurate. They tested it upon return and agreed that it too inaccurate to be repaired (even though a note in the box stated that it met accuracy standards before it was shipped to me). It was replaced with a 100X that was only slightly better and had a dinged up stock.
Refund? Ha! We got your money and we're keeping it. Please be happy with the reject we choose to send you.

I will never, never, never order another refurb from HatsanUSA.

Earlier you said you ordered a .25. I know it's a dumb question but did they send you a .22. and you're trying to load .25's into a .22?

Like we said you pull the cocking lever all the way back till it clicks a couple of times and the release lever on the side will giggle a little, not solid and unmoving. All you should have to do is press the front end of the release lever and push the cocking lever forward. You shouldn't have to pull back on the cocking lever to return it forward.

To check the inside of the barrel I cock the gun, slide a piece of white paper or a white business card into the breach and shine a flash light on the paper and look thru the front end of the barrel.

When I load the magazine I hold it with the thumb and forefinger of my left hand with the front of the mag facing me(the gray or silver side) and with  my right thumb rotate the the clear part clock wise till the first slot shows in the hole. Then load the pellet, back end first. I load all the pellets the same way, thru the front of the mag backend of pellet first. When full or I've loaded all I want to shoot I rotate the clear plastic part back counter clock wise till it locks.

Thought of another thing. I bought some .20 cal Beeman pellets made in China for my .20 VMX. They wouldn't fit. I'd have had to hammer them in. I first thought I got .22 pellets in a tin miss labeled .20 but I tried them in .22 gun and they slide thru. Maybe try a different pellet.

Make sure you have the right caliber magazine for the gun. The caliber the mag takes is printed on the clear side of the magazine.

This is the 3rd refurb that I bought with the 1st two looking like brand new guns and shooting like one. One was from Hatsan and the other from P/A.
This one has a few nicks and dents in the stock and small 2 gouges in the metal near the loading port. Being a refurb it makes me wonder if the previous owner was having the same issues that I am having now.

Well, I have had the Proxima for over a week now and have not fired the 1st shot yet. After a few learning issues the gun now operates normally to the point of the cocking arm not returning to it's resting place under the barrel. It stop about an inch away and will move no further.

I don't think it is cocking either because when I release the arm it comes back up under a lot of tension which becomes less the closer you get to the barrel. Then, it stops 1 inch from where it locks up with the barrel catch.

I wrote Hatsan and waited a week for a response. I wrote back describing the problem again and that's where things sit right now. 

Not a good start for a higher end air rifle but hopefully patience will pay off and I'll get it working. My gut feeling is that I will have to return the rifle for them to evaluate and repair. How this gun got out of their door is beyond me. I am a bit frustrated to say the least. Will have more later.

Well, here it is, Tuesday and I am still waiting for Hatsan to reply to the message I sent them on Friday. Since I am not familiar with the Proxima it took a little time to figure out that the problem with this gun. The rifle cannot be cocked! The cocking arm goes back all the way and you can hear a loud click which sounds like it's cocking, but it isn't.
There is no way that Hatsan could not have inspected and tested this gun before they shipped it or they would known this. They did sent a check list along with the gun of all the things they supposedly inspected prior to shipping.  I assume was the original list from when they shipped this rifle new to the previous owner. Talk about misleading.
After this negative experience I am done with Hatsan, never again.
A company that sends me an inoperative product and then is very slow to correct the problem, if they ever do, puts them on my permanent do not buy from list.
