My DianaRWS 48 started acting weird.

My new 48 has functioned perfectly for the first 200 rounds or so. Then during a series of shots, one time the trigger wouldn't work. It was like the 'first stage' all the way to the end. It went all the way rearward. It would not fire the gun.
I re-cocked and then it finally functioned again. Haven't had that problem again but now there is something else that doesn't seem right.
I can no longer re-apply the safety when it is cocked or uncocked. It just won't 'pull out' to the safe position. In other words, I cock the gun and then decide not to fire it. The instructions say you can re-apply the safety. I think I remember being able to do that prior to the 'trigger' incident. Also the instructions say you can apply the safety prior to cocking.
It does pop out properly when the gun is first cocked. And 'snaps in' properly when you want to shoot.
I have not modified the 48 in any way. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

Have you had the gun apart at all anytime? is this a T05 gun? if its a T05 trigger these triggers are very basic and easy to work on.

I haven't had the gun apart . . . but took it out of the stock when I first purchased it to 'wipe it down'.
I will pull it again and examine the trigger group. I don't expect to see any serious problems, but hopefully the cause of the 'safety issue' will be obvious.
Thanks to all.

Sometimes the tips of the springs can brake and migrate there way into the trigger group. I would take it down and give it a deburr and lube tune. A good lube tune makes a huge difference.
I did a JM VRT tune on my 52 and could not be happier.
Good luck

Thankyou Austin870. As a matter of fact the weirdness began after I lock-tighted both stock screws and tightened them down 'firmly'. I was careful not to use excessive lock-tight.
I let the gun sit for several days before shooting it. It was then that the safety issue/trigger problem appeared.
After all of this I did pull the 48 apart just enough to view the trigger group. All looked normal. It went back together fine and now the safety can be applied/re-applied when the gun is cocked. There is a little 'catch' when pulling the safety back out. It needs to be lifted slightly, then it comes out easily. It is possible I just didn't try hard enough before.
BTW, in examining the trigger/safety mechanism, I don't see any way that the safety can be applied w/o the gun being cocked. The safety push/pull arm appears to be blocked by a tab in the trigger group until the gun is cocked.
If any other 48 owners can apply the safety before the gun is cocked, I'd like to know. If you try it, notice if the safety bar comes all the way out to 'safe' and blocks the trigger. Mine pulls out about half way but does not block anything i.e. it is not really "on safe".

Don't have a 48. But the safety on my 34 has to be lifted slightly while pulling to reapply. Mine is a T06.
Good luck with it and keep us posted on how your rifle performs.

My 48 is a flip up safety. It works cocked or uncocked. It's a T01.
