MROD GEN2 DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY JSAR ALUMINUM AIR CYLINDER
« on: February 20, 2018, 12:42:01 AM »

Well, New Years Resolutions are always made to lose weight and here is my MROD GEN2 .22 keeping its promise to lose a few pounds. I upgrade the heavy steel air tube with a Jefferson State Aluminum Cylinder and man does it lighten up the rifle!

The rifle will be torn down and reassembled with a JSAR Aluminum Air Cylinder, JSAR SS Balanced Valve, JSAR Super Hammer, JSAR TSS GEN2 and Huma regulator. The rifle will weigh almost 2 pounds less when this is all said and done. The MROD had most of these modifications already installed but I never documented the installation but have been promising you guys that I would, well here it is!

Thank you and enjoy!

This is one of the best R&R (Remove and Replace) tutorials I've ever seen, including many professionally produced vids I've watched during my 30+ year career in the aerospace industry.

Well done Haji!  We now have an updated Gen II R&R video we can refer the newbs to when needed.  We use to have to refer them to the Gen I videos.

One of the most meticulous dis-assembly/assembly videos I have ever seen.  I like how you repeatedly checked for air pressure, and de-gassed multiple times.  Perfect training for the newbie.

The JSA air tube, without the gauge hole, will need a vent hole since you are using a regulator.  That doesn't take anything away from the video, but will need to be done to prevent regulator creep.

UPDATE: It was covered in the video just past where I stopped.   :-[

The light tube is on my to do list. Your video is done in a way that I won't need to refer back to it when I install mine. It's not all jumbled up with useless info so key steps can be remembered and focused on.
Thank you and JSAR.

I only had time to skip around it, but it looks very good. I did skip towards the end and noticed the warning about dry firing a SS valve, but I believe that the wording will easily mislead a new user to actually dry fire it. You say to not dry fire it without pressure, but a new user may not equate that to the backpressure from a loaded pellet. They may think that they are fine because there is pressure in the tank, and proceed to dry fire it. I would suggest a more clear text there.

If a new user understands it as you have written it, they would be correct, you NEVER want to have the hammer slam into the valve without pressure in the cylinder.

I understood that the SS should not be dry fired period, meaning do not fire it without a pellet loaded. However, that is exactly what you do in the video, which is wrong for the SS. I hope that Travis will comment. If I am wrong, then great, I learned something.

As I have understood it: Do NOT fire the SS valve without a pellet loaded.
As you described it: Do NOT fire the SS valve without pressure in the tank.

Ah,  ::)  I stopped this morning right after the huma install, before heading out to work.   I had noticed earlier in the video, you mentioned no hole in the tube, and then starting installing.
