Childhood flashback: 760's and 1377's

After being fairly certain my family no longer has my airguns, I began the search to find the same or near the same year and model guns I used to cut my teeth on hunting and plinking as a youngster. 
It was a delightful surprise to find them, as millions were sold.
The two guns were a Crosman 760 rifle and an American Classic 1377 air pistol.  The 760 is a 1976 model, and the 1377 is a 1981 (I believe I had a 1978 or 1977 model with the steel breech...this one has the plastic breech)
Both guns were in exceptional shape, particularly the rifle....I really do not think it has been fired much at all as it seems practically new.
Both needed seals or so I thought, and after trying the obligatory oiling of the pump seals, I was stoked to find the 760 held after an overnight sit. 
 The pistol was definitely not holding air...or even pumping air.  After taking the gun completely down and adding a shim behind the hammer spring, she shoots well.
 After 42 years, pulling the trigger on these guns brought back a flood of memories....

Yup. It was my first pellet gun too. And here it is, 760 Powermaster variant 1, built June 1968 to the left of a 760 variant 4, built January 1977 on the right. With period-correct Weaver Dual X V22-A scope I bought new in the 70's. 3-6x18.

And here I am with a 760-D Pumpmaster, all plastic/styrene variant 8, built April 1998;

  The variant 1 and variant 8 are both being restored at the moment. That's why the variant 1's sights are MIA. They're on the new old stock 761xl I polished and reblued for it.

I remember the first time I shot a 760.. I was 10 years old , the kid next door stole his step dads credit card and ordered 4 bb guns from a magazine...I dont remember what the other guns were but I clearly remember picking up the 760 with its ugly brown plastic stock ...
I pumped the gun 9 times
He bent over to pick somthing up and  I shot him right in the @ss ...
He jumped up so fast releasing  a loud girl like scream 
Then proceeded to role around on the floor holding his wounded  buttocks
I ran home in fear of retaliation 
I don't know what came over me , I think back and  it was like being posted by carma  ...
Or maybe I'm just a donkey bum

Thanks for the replies guys.  I was surprised how accurate they were with open sights, especially since I cant see up close without reading glasses    How the heck do you focus?  Something I didn't think about, since I haven't shot with open sights, well, since I was a kid!
 Not a problem with bows, as the sight pins are far enough away. Old age and too much staring at a computer all day, I guess. 
Anyway, I remedied the situation tonight...had an old crossbow cheapie scope ( which BTW, I harvested 12 deer with) I mounted on the 760, and a red dot I mounted on the 1377...had it sitting around after I replaced it with a Bug Buster on my Prod.  Now to sightem in!

Hahahahaha!  Thats funny!  Poor kid.  The things we did with bb guns and bows!  A couple of the more idiotic things we did was having bb gun fights with no eye protection in a closed trailer, like the doublewide kind.   It was an abandoned construction office at my friends farm.  I remember I had a daisy pistol (which BTW, I think my brother pilfered and still has according to my nephew....hmmmm, maybe that is where my other two guns went now that I think about it  ) my friends had a Red Rider and one of the shotgun pump style Crosmans....man those things hurt!  Cant imagine 9 pumps in a 760...
Then there was shooting arrows straight up to see how high they would go.....

I'm not even going into what we did with those Jarts (lawn darts).  Garbage can lid shields were involved. I used the Superpells for small game hunting down by the Black River we grew up on. Climbing cliffs and huge boulders and all.

not to see how high but to see how straight up and DOWN!
Rule was:
 shoot, drop bow as marker,
 Run to the shelter and wait for the down,
 thinking we was safe.
  Until one came thru the tin roof
  and stuck into the picnic table next to the one we sat on!
  We waited under the tables after that.

Had one arrow land on top of wood light pole, straight down
it was there from the early 70's until the early 00's
about 06-08 maybe
I was very let down to NOT see it one trip thru old home town.

What we lived thru, !! ??
