Vintage Pumper, Modern Pumper, and Vintage Everything Match #2 *RESULTS*

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! HEAR YE!
Spread the Word far and wide
The second Vintage Pumper, Modern Pumper, and Vintage Everything Else Casual Match is open for business. The Casual Match is a fun match. Shoot whatever Vintage Pumper, Modern Pumper, or Vintage Everything Else gun (see below) that you want at 10M (more or less depending on what you have available), use any position, rest or optic that you prefer. See below for the details.
I added more detail rules below so we don’t have to keep referring to the 50’ Casual rules (mostly copied from the 50' Casual rules). Remember the object is to have fun.
Rules:
1) Distance is 10M. If you are like me and are limited to distance, shoot at whatever distance you have available.
2) Any position you like including bench rest, prone, sitting, kneeling, mono pod, bi pod, etc...
3) Any scope or open sights, red dot, shooting from the hip, whatever…
4) Targets are the same as for the regular 50’ Casual Match at
http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=114644.0
I’ll link the “Ink Saver” targets below but additional targets may be found at the above link.
5)(a) 2 shots at each of the 12 major bulls on the scoped sights targets, drop the lowest 2 scoring bulls for a total possible score of 200/200. Kinda like when the teacher would drop the lowest test score when figuring the final grade. You may also shoot 1 shot at each of the 12 bulls on two 12 bull target sheets and post both sheets; however, you must drop the same two bulls on both target sheets.
5)(b) If you prefer the 6 bull targets designed for fixed sights, shoot two consecutive targets intended as a single match entry for a total of 12 bulls (still dropping the two lowest scoring bulls), or four shots per bull on one target and drop only one lowest scoring bull (less advantageous, but your choice);
5)(c)For the 24 bull targets... 1 shot per bull for 24 bulls. Scoring will be in line with the match rules.......for score you eliminate 2 boxes containing 2 bulls each for a possible high score of 200/200. For an X you still need to totally remove the dot on the 4.5mm target and totally remove the shaded area around the dot on the 5.5 target.
5)(d) Match the target to you caliber. 20 caliber, please use the 22 (5.5mm) target.
6) Classes are:
• Vintage Pumper (VP) (as defined in the Vintage Gate – manufactured pre-1985)
• Modern Pumper (MP) (Manufactured after 1984)
• Vintage Everything Else (VEE) (as defined in the Vintage Gate – manufactured pre-1985)
Unlike the regular casual match, multiple entries may be made in each class as long as the air rifles are substantially different. For example, all Sheridan Series C Streaks (Blue or Silver) manufactured prior to 1985 would be considered to be substantially the same and only one Series C entry would be allowed. However, if you a Super Grade and a Series C, an entry may be made for each gun. A Sheridan and a Benjamin would be different air rifles even if in the same class. I’m sure that this will cause some confusion. We’ll work it out as we go along. The object of this match is to have fun and show off our pumpers and vintage guns.
If possible, please turn in a scan or picture of the target. If you want to show off your gun, then please include a picture. Please note, that a scan or picture of the target or gun is optional.
Target due date is Sunday, February 18, 2018.
Please include the following information with your entry (The best way is to copy the info below and paste it back in to your reply):
Call name or real name
Class (VP, MP, VEE)
Air rifle or Pistol Make and Model (e.g., Sheridan Super Grade)
Sighting system
Pellet and caliber
Shooting position and/or aid(s)
Score
I’ll post entries to an excel spreadsheet and sort by class. If we get enough entries, then I post a 2nd spreadsheet sorted by make and model.
Shoot safe and have fun,
Jim

Is it ok to use CPMG? Not sure if this load makes a larger mark or just a cleaner cut. All others appear to implode on contact leaving just a small hole.

Marty,
CPMG are wadcutters so they will give a cleaner hole. The holes for the dome pellets will close back up making them difficult to score. I use a wadcutter glued on the end of a skewer to score my target since I usually shoot dome pellets.
To answer your question the CPMG pellets are acceptable for this match.

I know what you mean Jim. There are days when I see it & feel it & then there are days when things are better left alone for another day. What I have taken away from all this is that confidence builds with each session. You look for flaws in your game & try to avoid them the next go-round. At any rate, haven’t had this much fun in a long time.
Not much shooting today on this end either. Buttoned up a few loose ends at work instead so I can have some play time tomorrow. Stuck on the 880 for now so I think I’ll give it another go-round tomorrow.
BTW; congrats on the 10M Off Hand Match!

Thanks again guys.
That was a bear. Placed the target on the horizontal to limit hold changes. I don’t think I can ever get this score on the vertical. Too much for this brain.
Had to run the table on the first 12 to give me 2 misses on the bottom 12, if not, here we go again. Did this 4 times only to blow it on the bottom half. Finally came together.
FWIW; I read a couple of posts from ac12. All good do’s & don’ts. One recommendation he made stood out for me. My eyesight isn’t up to par. I was trying to focus on both the rifles sights & the dot. Doing this blurred both. His recommendation is to focus on the sights not the dot & don’t worry that the dot is somewhat blurred. Shots were much more consistent after that.
