Hard pumpin'

I've got a Benjamin Sheridan. 20 cal c9 that I purchased used, a few yrs back. It was hard to pump (1st pump and so on) from the start. Is that the way these are or is there something wrong with it?

I don't know...I have a new 392..the first pump seems very easy to me..but I have vavle mods and well over 5000 rounds through the gun...Also  I oil it,  a lot ..

Sounds dry. Was the rifle put away lubed & with a few pumps in it?
If not, you need to get yourself some Secret Sauce from Mac-1. Put 6-7 drops on the piston & pivot joints. Pump the rifle up 2 or 3 pumps, dry fire it to work the lube through the rifle's internals. Do this 3-4 times & then leave the rifle with 3 pumps in it & lean it up in the corner overnight. See if there's any improvement the next day. You can also use 30w ND motor oil in a pinch.

You'll definitely feel 5 and beyond. I know that the C9 I sold Hoosier Daddy was a beast.

Have you tried to fire it a second time to make sure it's not retaining air?

I'll try give it the juice (oil) and see what happens. I hope that's all it needs.

Let us know.. The C9 is a great gun. A fine example of what Sheridan and Benjamin were able to jointly create before Crosman took the reigns into their hands. Crosman had bought into it by the time the gun was made but let them continue to build it before they put the "cheap" into the next generation.
