I am looking for a FFP scope for my Taipan Veteran. I have been using Hawke Vantage 4×12 scopes on the Veteran and Wildcat and have been happy with them but would like to try FFP. All the FFP scopes that people seem to recommend (such as the Athlon) use the exposed adjustable turrets. I prefer the capped turrets and using the mildots for holdovers. I use the guns mainly for hunting. Any advice will be appreciated.

My bad, I missed the Centerpoint 3-9x40 or 4-12x44 Spectrum FFP both capped hunter turrets.

I have checked these out at Academy. Much better than you would think. Clear and bright. Not too heavy, either.

Those Centerpoints are interesting. Very inexpensive. Deal killer for me is they only have three mil dots and it appears that the reticle gets very thick on higher magnification. Guess you get what you pay for.

Checkout the BSA FFP scope. I am happy with the three I have on my AG's. Good price, good glass, great recital and can be found on sale every once in a while. Down side it can be heavy, but what 30mm Tube w/4-14x 44mm FFP scope doesn't have some weight to them?

This is true of ALL FFP scopes. The reticle covers the same amount of target regardless of magnification used. Also, the Spectrum Series has a very useful reticle with 10 mil dots at full mag.

I don’t understand the picture of the Centerpoint Spectrum reticle. Why are the 10 mil dots above the center with just 3 below? Mistake?

Looks like the BSA is discontinued.

John, I have the Centerpoint Spectrum 3x9x40 and the glass is nice, the scope is well made, I just decided that FFP was not for me. If interested in trying FFP I will make you a nice deal on this scope.

I have the same BSA scope on my mutant and really like it. its not bad at all for the money especially being a FFP scope at that.

You state a preference for capped turrets, which I understand in a hunting scope. I recently bought my first FFP scope, an Athlon Helos 6-24. I am extremely pleased with it, one of the clearest scopes I have used, and I really like the FFP aspect of a constant scale on the reticle. While it does not have capped turrets, they lock down, and I believe they would be totally suitable for hunting. And if you index the turret to your 0, you can tell at a glance if it should accidentally move (unlikely). Mine is MOA, but it is offered in mil as well. I realize mine is a sample of only one, but, if it is representative of the Athlon general quality, I believe it is a heck of a good scope and a great value.
