I'm looking at a 1995 CB9. I was told they started putting the removable valves in 95. However, this one has the old style trigger. I've read that some people had a old trigger and removable valve.
The serial number is 695701409. So is there anyway to tell which valve?

I explained this to you in a PM, but I'll type it out here for future reference. If the distance between the large stock screw and the front trigger guard screw is 2" then it will have the cartridge valve. If the distance is 1.5" then it is soldered valve. You can also tell by the relative position of the screw to the receiver. With soldered valve the screw is directly under the loading port section of the receiver, with cartridge valve the screw is under the chamber portion of the receiver (the very front of receiver). Maybe I'll post a picture later for reference.

I think the photos would be a help to everyone, for me for sure. Buying over the internet is a pain. If the seller was too lazy to really check what was stamped on the gun instead of what was on the box,
he was probably too lazy to really measure the screw distance.
He said it was 2 inches screw too screw, but
also said it was stamped CB9
. As you informed me in the last PM no guns were ever stamped CB9. I didn't know that. The 95 year for a newbie is confusing with manuals and boxes marked CB9 yet no guns marked that way.
I wanted the cartridge type because I don't have the tools to work on the soldered valves. Getting a new cartridge valve if needed would be no problem.
From what I've learned, I shouldn't have to pest you in the future. Without your help, I would have been lost.

hey man, no problem at all. these guns can be super confusing. I'm happy to help anytime, don't ever hesitate to ask.
here is a picture of my 1993 C9 that definitely has a soldered valve. you can see that the screw position is a little further back than the one in your picture. If I had to guess, I would say that the one you are looking at has the cartridge valve. I have 3 other guns from the 1991-1993 time frame (all with soldered valves) and the position of stock screw is the same as in the picture I am attaching.
Marty, if you see this thread, can you verify that your 1996 guns have the stock screw further forward like in RCO's picture?

Well, I got the seller to look and
it was stamped C9.
If any one has a 1996 Sheridan could you check if your stock screw lines up like the 95 I am looking at.

I don't have a C9 but my '93 392P, and my '68 and '73 Blue Streaks, all with soldered in valves, have the bolt directly under the loading port so it looks
to me
like the one you're looking at has the removable valve.

I found the parts list and manual for
C9 and CB9 Phase 1
made from May 1995 to June 1997. They had the non modular trigger and removable valve.

Hate to tell you this Rob, but working in factories for the last 20 years I can tell you production run cut off dates can be a little vague.
You run until the current inventory is depleted then onto the next.... then you find more old and run them through until the inventory is clensed.
Then when you think you are all done the factory can request more "service parts"
Hardly ever is there a solid cut off date.

I've worked in factories also. We just found there was such animal and they were produced in the time mentioned. There also is a manual and parts list for that type of rifle. Some of us didn't know there was that combination of trigger and valve.
I'd rather have the rifle in hand before I bought but that is not the case.
