2100 question

When did they stop making the 2100 with white stenciling on the receiver ? Just wondering if they are old enough to be considered better than the new ones.
 Would it be worth considering one for 50.00 over a new one or even a new refurb or could it be a &^^& shoot if it,s had a lot of BB,s run through it?

I don't know when they stopped making the stenciled 2100s but I have a "97".
From the Crosman site, looks like 1983-2010.
The older guns are better because they used a 2 piece metal/plastic piston and a brass valve.
The newer ones have a one piece plastic piston and an aluminum valve.
They also used better plastic for the stocks in the older guns.

If you get an older one, try to get a lightly used one that hasn't had a lot of BBs through it.
