Pawn Shop find - Crosman G1 Extreme

Another " Pawn Shop " thread I enjoyed reading made me think of posting this one.

  I almost never see a used air rifle in a pawn shop anywhere around here . While on a trip to Charleston, S.C. area last year, I stopped in a huge pawn shop up there . They had several air rifles & let me look at one. I really love all my Sheridans & don't really like " Twangers, " [ break barrels ] but I thought I would look it over , anyway .  This one was a Crosman G1 Extreme in .177 . It had a nice scope & mounts, but not air rifle rated , had slight surface rust, but looked as it it had not been used much at all. It had a price tag of $75 on it . While my friend & I were looking at it, the guy said that he could sell it for less. He went to look up how much they had in it,  I told my friend that I would probably give $55 for it. I could use the scope & mounts on a Sheridan , so I thought $55 would be a good enough deal. The guy came back & said , " Give me $40 & it is yours !"  So, I bought my first  " TWANGER ."

It is a real loud twanger. I bought mine in 2006 from Wal-Mart for a $100. Not to hard to cock and the trigger is okay. Nice find, have fun.

  I did not work on this one other than adjust/oil the trigger , oil the moving parts, clean the barrel, remove the surface rust, & add a 1/2lb. of putty in the stock . The trigger is pretty decent now, so I won't do anything else to it. It is not hold sensitive & likes the Winchester pellets just fine . I chronied it at 700 fps , but I don't know if that is about right or not. Adjusted & set the scope & it is shooting well at 25 yards. It is a lot easier to cock than my Webley VMX .20.

Plenty of room for you. If I remember right, you already got tanks and access to fills.

Steve, that G-1 is shooting a bit slow. Crosman Premiers should be hitting 900+, Ultra Magnums (10.5 grains) should be hi 700s -low 800s, round about.

The advertised fps was 1000fps. So the gun you have should be around those number that Mentolio mentioned. It may be slower with the possibility of it being a closet queen for awhile.

   I thought it may be a bit slow. BUT, it is accurate. Since I don't work on these, about all I will do is replace the breach seal.  I am guessing that these seals are available at Ace Hardware ? It is a pretty good shooting rifle , for a " TANGER !" 
  Crosman seems to change the names of their rifles every so often. I wonder which NEW rifle compares to this one.

Here is the parts schematic. Yes they are accurate, I have replaced the breach seal in the past but can't remember if it was 2 orings and some waxed dental floss or 1 oring and floss.
