Benji 392P Trigger Spring

My 397P's triggers are working fine with pen springs to lighten the trigger pull. At least for now. The 392P's worked ok for a while but now I have issues with the hammer setting at cock. Tried pulling the spring apart to add more tension but not even that works. Having to push the safety forward & cock it a 2nd time. Is there are ID# for the a spring you folks are using that works for you to lighten the trigger pull?
Thanks

What I did that worked pretty well for lightening it (the stock spring) a tad was to heat it and compress it all the way. Ended up a little shorter and possibly a tad weaker having drawn the temper most likely, but it hasn't had any ill effects otherwise.

Interesting to know, since I just replaced my spring with one from a pen, too. You might try a few different pens. They don't all use the same spring - maybe you'll find a stiffer one.
Prior to the spring mod, I had a fairly stiff trigger.

Mark, I never thought of doing that but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing!
Randy, good advise. I'll start digging through drawers & such looking for more springs. Even thought about heading to the hardware store & grabbing a hand full to experiment with. Just thought someone might have already done the leg work.

Don't remember where I got the idea, I'm sure it isn't original to me, but it was reasonably effective.
To elaborate, I held the spring in the jaws of pliers, heated it red over a stove burner and then compressed it coil-to-coil. Most obviously, it was shortened a bit and as I said, I'm sure the spring rate is lower than it was, but it still fits just right and is definitely lighter than in its stock condition.

Well, rummaged through several drawers & came up with this spring from a "Comfort Mate Ultra 0.7 mm". Took some pliers to get it apart but what I noticed immediately was the tensile strength was much greater than that of your typical pen. Placed it next to the factory spring & it was the same length. Stretched it a couple times til it settled at the correct length for consistant performance. Man what a difference. Cocks every time & a sweet, sweet pull. At least for now.
Will hang onto you-alls recommendations in case it fails. If it holds long term I'll find me another pen/pencil like this one, remove the spring & match it up at the hardware store. Or better yet, find one that's the exact tensile strenght, & length as this one is now.
This has been a thorn in my side. Glad to be making headway. Thanks guys!

Being a smoker, I always have a bic lighter.... those springs have found their way into many projects!
I always wonder when people type "lighter spring" if they mean "not as heavy" or a spring from an actual "lighter".
