G4 Filling Question, Issue, HELP!!

The three o-rings not listed on the parts list  (17, 45, 50) can be substituted with standard AS 568A o-rings. #17 is a 568A-111. #50 is a 568A-007. #45 is for cleaning the #22 rod and isn't a problem so i never bothered with it. For the most part there aren't any 568A standard o-rings that match up to most of what is used in the pump. Good thing about living in the big city, i can go right to an o-ring distributor.

IMO it's easier and quicker to learn how to fix it. I sent mine in, got it back and it only worked about two weeks. that's the PA way.

agree with you PA tech team not worthy,....and I'm a big PA fan about everything else.

Just filled my Rainstorm (380cc reservoir)

Not counting the strokes needed to prime the hose, it took from 100 BAR to 200 BAR,......125 strokes with the G4 pump, so the numbers on yours are way, way off, just send her back for a replacement i think

Just refilled after shooting a 10 rounds magazine, took 32 pumps

Sounds to me like you have an intake issue. That's the #50 o-ring i mentioned earlier. You're not getting enough air in the tube so you're pumping a smaller volume. If on each stroke the pressure won't tighten up until you're almost 1/2 the distance through the pump stroke you definitely have a bad #50. Not that difficult and it gives you a chance to lube all the factory dry spots. I figured out a few tricks so if you need a guide let me know.

I think I am just going to operate. I've got all sorts of 0-rings and a hardware store around the corner. From the diagram it is just a bunch of washers and seals and such, and most likely there is a piece disjointed. I just fixed my bike pump a few days ago, and while the mechanism is a lot simpler, this can't be rocket science...

That, and I don't even want to bother sending to PA. I have the worst luck with them. I have not bought a single item from them that arrived (first time) in new condition. Of course they won't admit it, but I think they just re-stock returns without fixing the issues. This pump arrived with a bent pressure release and it had been assembled and disassembled previously (I could tell by the scrapes where the pump meets the base). par for the course with PA. Here is a list of my transactions with them.

* Bought a Hammerli 490. It arrived clearly used. Had I been into forensics I'd have been able to ID the previous owner. Filthy gun, obviously used... Terrible. Returned it. Would have had to pay restocking as they said "it can't be used". Instead I exchanged it for...

* ... a Daisy 953. The rifle arrived and it was mispacked or not in the original packaging. All the packaging had been torn open. I just kept it. I called PA and let them know. They said "we don't sell used rifles as new". It sure seemed that way.

* Bought a Ruger Air Hawk. Out of the box the stock was pressure dinged. The sights were broken. I think the same guy that owned the 490 owned this one. Called PA and they took it back. I signed off buying from them for a few years.

* After a long hiatus, bought a bunch of pellets and checked out with ebillme. Waited a month and realized they hadn't arrived. Took about 5 calls to straighten the issue out over the next 2 weeks or more. Turns out they were waiting on ONE TIN of pellets and I had bought about 40. Because of ebillme, they could not modify the order. I ended up having to cancel the order and place it again. 8 weeks later, I had gotten my partial order. The pellets were fine. The wait and policies were ridiculous. Found another pellet supplier.

* Bought a refurbished Diana 54... oy. Documented somewhere here on GTA. It wasn't a matter of the gun being second-hand, it was rusty over the bluing and in the breach. The compression tube was worn and rusting. Did shoot well enough that I tried an exchange. The second one came and that was perfect. I had a small glimmer of hope for PA... [thought for a moment that airgundaily.com was owned by airventuri, but indeed it is echo commerce -- who made this exchange very much correct.]

* Bought a pump... I'll be rebuilding that. Warranty? whatever...

By comparison, I have never had an issue with any other rifle purchase, and I own over 20.

Anyway...

That seems exactly it. well, actually I probably go to about 3/4 before it feels like it is doing anything. If I could cut the strokes in half, I'd be on board with that!

I'm so not mechanicly inclined, but I would really want to start working on my pumps, sent 2 to PA for rebuilding and they did an horrible job

Gee, that would mean working in an area that was tidy so other people could see what was going on... I don't know that I work well under those conditions!

In the interest of fairness, that RWS 54 fiasco wasn't PA, it was Airguns Daily, and they made it right.

I just wanted to clarify that.  PA has had their problems yes, but you're blaming the wrong dealer for the 54 deal.

right, echo-commerce, not air-venturi. Temporarily lost my train of ownerships. On the other hand that just makes it worse for PA, as the RWS 54 incident had a VERY happy ending. The one I got was perfect, and it has become one of my few favorite guns.

So I am corrected. PA can't do anything right.
