FX Streamline .22 who owns & loves it like me?

It sure sounds like you have all of "your" ducks in a row.  That's what counts. I'm not wealthy.  I bought my 25 cal used and got a great deal.  I still feel blessed to be able to afford a used one.  And shame on me as  I still want a 22 cal.  Smile.. Brian

Yep, guys you just have to go with what makes you happy.

My mother (rest her soul, died last year at 99) used to say "Everyone spends their money on something. It might be a nice house, car, clothes, travel, food, financial security, helping others or ... something, unique to their individual needs and wants."

Only people with lots of money fill all those needs at once. Most of us have to prioritize. On my limited retirement income, I must prioritize.

For me, at Christmas, I treated myself to a new speaker system for our living room. I've been playing guitar since I was 15, toured semi-professionally for 3 years, sold Hi-Fi components part time for a while and have always enjoyed music; a lot.

Got myself a Sonos Playbase (sits under the TV) for $700. Paid it without a blink and almost no purchase guilt what so ever.

It's still less that $1000 for an air rifle. It produces, smooth, clear, balanced sound for both my music and my home theater (a modest 40" HD screen). I will enjoy it every day, rain or shine, warm or cold, day or night for years to come.

To quote my mother "Everyone spends their money on something." For me, this checked a priority. 🙂

Still, nice music is not my ONLY interest.

Hence, some budget air guns, which I enjoy.

As the OP of this thread I only wanted to make known to GTA members who were interested how the FX Streamline .22 is turning out to be a great PCP for me.  I chose the Streamline as my first PCP from the experience of purchasing springer after springer, each time moving up in quality, price, and performance. (8 rifles total in a span of 11 years). If I had started with the high end spring rifles I now own, I would have only bought the last 3 ( live and learn). So on my first PCP purchase I wanted to avoid paying for multiple PCP’s at the lower price range, and shot for the top for a one time satisfying purchase.  PCP’s on average are more expensive than springer air rifles so, didn’t want to play the “this one is good but that one is better game again”.  As far as .22 caliber PCP’s go I’ll be stopping right here.  In this rifle I’ve got a tack driving 32, 20, & 11 foot pound gun that power settings can be used for specific shooting situations.  Three guns in one, win in my book.  To each their own.  God bless!  I’m good.

Right on Joe! I've got my eyes on one in 25 Cal. A bit longer than I prefer...but light for its size and handled well.

I still enjoy my cheaper shooters.... plenty accurate....but when I grab my Huntsman you can sure tell it's a step above the rest. . Good on you! I'm sure she'll keep ya satisfied for many years to come.

Amen!  I completely understand those buying the least expensive.  On the other hand, this habit is quite that, a habit.  If you buy the least cost solution, your habit will have been established and you will be wondering how it would be to have the next level gun.  Eventually, you will end up in the higher cost realm.  Save that cash that you will lose when selling the cheaper gun(s) for less than you paid.  In other words, consider the Streamline the starter PCP.  Your risk of regret is very, very low.  The Brit writer, John Ruskin, explained this process very articulately.  “It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little.  When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all.  When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.  The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done.  If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

True in many things.

Another important principle is have the purchase suit the need.

If I need a comfortable, reliable commuter car, a Corrola will suit the need better than a Ferrari for much less money.

For plinking, my best two rifles are the 22 Discovery (shooting GTOs) and my 177 Hammerli 850 (shooting Field Target Trophy Green). Both can reliably hit 5" hanging metal targets at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 75 yards. Nothing more is needed.

It's when I decided to dabble in Field Target that I needed a better 177 for accurate shots (1.5" groups) out to 55 yds. My needs evolved. FT will be "just for fun." What will I have to spend to have fun? It might be I should sell off my other rifles and just go straight for a Streamline. We'll just have to see.

Before I started this journey, I really didn't know what I'd need. I've had fun along the way. We'll see where it ends. 🙂

 My hot new Swedish GF arrived today. First impressions: A+ packaging by AoA. She's a petite feather weight (compared to my NP XL). Arrived with 200 bar. Tested at AoA with 5 shots of 18 gr JSB. Avg of 870 ft/sec, ES of just 8. Cleaned the barrel. Hoping to have my HPA system up within a week or two. Suppressing evil thoughts that I could have had a CZ455 Tacticool plus suppressor plus NFA license instead and still have hundreds left over for 5c a round ammo. But it would be nuts to shoot a 140 FPE gun on my horse acre.

The test shots came without the target disk - which would be the ultimate in service. Instead there's a blurry pic of a one hole group with a disclaimer: "Actual group size may vary slightly". But I don't blame AoA for not supplying the the target. It would require extra time for cleaning and sighting in. So what is shown is likely a typical representation of what you can expect from a properly set up gun - which is your job unless you want to pay extra for the service.

I twice pulled through a wet patch with Hoppe's No.9 bore cleaner using my Crown Saver tool, followed by some dry patches and finishing with a patch moistened with Hoppe's lubricating oil. As expected there was a good amount of dark gray gunk that came out.

When I got my 22 it leaked and was not at all accurate.  I was blown away that an FX could be that bad...I just assumed  (maybe not the thing to do)   they sent every one the same pic instead of actually shooting my gun.  That sounds like the pic I got as well.  Their ad says they shoot and check out every gun they sell free.  Not a $10 fee others charge..Thanks Brian

I tried everything I could as far as ammo and scopes.  I then called AOA and talked to a less than kind gent who chewed me out for shooting it so much and would not exchange it but if I paid the shipping both ways they would look at it.  To make a long story a bit shorter I just ask to return it and they told me I would have to pay a 15% restock fee.  I lost a bit over $265 all told.  The boss called me a couple days later and apologized for the chap I talked to and offered my restock fee back on my next purchase of a new gun. 
 Now I don't care for fusses so I have moved on.  I'm pleased to hear about others getting a great Streamline in 22 cal.  I bought a used 25 cal laminated off the yellow and it is everything any one could want.  Brian

  AIRGUN DEPOT ! ... never the place in AZ .... if this gun was available in .30 I would own 1 right now .. your best bet for customer service will be airgun depot for these guns ... if pyramyd had them they would also be a good option .. I have returned a lot of guns to them, and never had a problem .
