I hope you are all well today and best wishes to you all in the new year.

Over the course of my membership here I have tried to break down , inherent accuracy, and its true meaning.
Over and over I have tried to emphasize the importance of the extension/tool used to achieve this.
The importance of all factors that lead to inherent accuracy and its end result on paper.

Most of us here are infatuated with inherent accuracy and strive for the best we can get, sometimes by any means necessary.
We obsess over it. We argue about the best and most accurate guns for the job. Time and time again, I have stressed that the plastic bargain brand
is absolutely not the route to take and have often tried to urge those of you looking for extreme accuracy to save your money for something nice that you can be proud of for a lifetime.
At times that has fallen upon deaf ears and/or looked upon as an insult.

The shooter is most certainly a factor when it boils down to, inherent accuracy. But if he does not have the proper tool that is capable, it will not be achieved. Not today, or any other day.
Seldom do any of you see me giving tips or shooter factored advice. I have learned this over the course of many years of practice and literally thousands upon thousands or rounds, ranging from rimfire to pellets. During that time I have made mistakes, lost bets, improper loads ( larger caliber guns), incorrect style, and yes I have even argued that the bargain brand was , " just as good." I was new to this way back then, and I didn't know any better.

Below you will find photos of a 6 shot group shot at a lasered 50 yards.
My initial goal, when I started this group, was to shoot 20 shots while looking for any POI shift.
I moved my scope a few clicks over to the left so as not to black out the bulls eye. I wanted my eye to clearly see dead center with 0 distraction.
The conditions at this time were dead calm. Perfect. But outdoors nonetheless. Nothing is ever really perfect out there and you too will discover this over the course of your accuracy journey.
However, It was as close as you can get to being on an indoor range.
After 6 shots and seeing this happen through the glass of a 6.5 x 20 Leupy, I obviously stopped short of my 20 shot test while saying to myself , " this may well be the best group I ever shot."
Better stop now! lol

To my recollection I have done this 2 other times. Once with an FX Tarantula over 5 shots. And once with a tricked out Cooper model 57 M .22 caliber rimfire which took several targets to finally achieve. Also 5 shots. I was using 20 dollar per box of 50 rounds Eley ammo. Neither the cooper nor the Tarantula were quite this tight.

These were the first 6 shots off the sand bags, from a 210 bar fill, the night before. No warm ups. No practice shots.
This was done using a box stock Daystate Regal XL, with the only thing being done to it , my finely tuned 8oz trigger adjustment
I'm nearly certain that some of you won't believe this, but all I can say is, " I'm not lying to anyone, nor shooting a target at 25 yards or even 10 yards and turning right around and misleading everyone by calling it 50 yards. This really did happen. I mean I got called out Bullchevvic, on similar 25 yard targets, which the gun shoots one pellet hole with astounding regularity at that range. 50 yards is a totally different animal where shooter discipline/error will rear its ugly head quicker than you can blink an eye.

I wish I had a range master witnessing this when it happened. But thats the breaks. It is what it is.

The exit channel, so you can see it wasn't just one pellet.

Excellent shooting Quigly! looks like you've got a keeper for sure and if I remember right that rifle is a real beauty!

Great shooting Quigly! Maybe you've found the trick to shooting excellent groups, tell yourself it will be a 10 shot group but stop at 5. I know I always pull the 5th shot when I have an awesome group started.

Is there a reason you always use the foam cups to shoot?

I must say your 6 shot group is amazing but I would be much more impressed if ALL of those 6 shots were centered in the black diamond. This tells me you didn’t accurately zero in your scope. Being off just a small amount could mean a missed shot, unless all you’re going for is a good group. I would rather hit what my crosshairs are resting on. Still, you have a good group shot.

As to not being on target in the black........I moved the scope over left a few clicks to keep from putting holes into the black which creates a distraction to the eye.
I'm also about 2 clicks low.

The reason for the foam cups : They are easy to deal with. They cut fairly clean. The targets stick to them well. I end up with a bunch of empties after having diet coke at several places because I get the drinks free at several places because I fill several big trucks with Deisel at various places every week. They make pretty good targets even if all you have it a black magic marker and put a dot on them.

Truly awesome shooting Quigley! I can guarantee I couldn't get such a group even using your gun, at 50 yards, or 25, lol. Takes some great steady shooting and finesse to pull off a group like that! Amazingly accurate gun as well! Yep, looks like those high end guns definitely deliver, at least in your case anyway. Congrats!

The cup is weighted down. A tin of Crossman Premieres sitting on top. It does not move.
I'm at roughly 735 fps at 50 yards. The small projectile is hitting that cup at roughly 500 miles per hour.

Thanks for the explanation. I like the idea actually, portable targets that you can just drop one anywhere and shoot.

Not only are you an excellent marksman, you are a frugal shopper with your target selections. I'm gonna have to start drinking what you're drinking! Great idea with the targets though.

Well, to use a phrase from another thread, that group is "mind blowingly accurate!" Great shooting and congratulations!

These 6 shots are the tightest I have ever seen.

It reminds me of this Ted's video where he shoots 96 shots with no flyers. Different size groups though.
