Hey Guys/Gals

Anyone have a 17 cal Sentry?

What do you think of it, number of shots, have you shot any wadcutters pellets thru it, if so, the outcome etc.

Don if NOE made molds for .177 I'd probably have bought one by now however I don't buy ammo anymore so I'd be in a predicament if I did buy one.

I don't have a pcp 17 and want one,
since I got 2 Sentry's 22/25 cal, I thought I might add a 17 to the herd etc.

Don I have one pcp that's .177 and that's my DAR, It's an excellent shooter too, very accurate with the heavy pellets and I've been seeing discussion about possibly NOE making a .177 slug mold

 To add to this NSA is making some affordable .177 slugs that should do great in these< so far I have only tested in a mrod, the other .177 gun I have is an at44 that I have not taken out to longer ranges as of yet to see.

I tried some slugs in my Sentry 705-9 .22 and am not sure what to think. I didn't get the performance I was expecting compared to pellets. I have it set on power level 4.

NSA 217 17.5gr slugs only gave me 27.69fpe compared to my H&N 16.36 terminators giving me 29.37fpe.

NSA 217 20.2gr slugs gave me 28.64fpe compared to H&N Barracudas giving me 31.8fpe.

Is this normal?

I haven't tried them at longer distances yet but the H&N Terminators group as well or better than the 17.5gr slugs and the 20.2gr slugs group better than the 21.14gr Barracudas.  This is at 10 yards in my basement.

Both slugs also impact to the left compared to the pellets.

What lubricant do you guys use to lubricate your Sentrys? The side lever is getting a little stiff to cock.

 I use moly powder on the hammer tube, Mine is the bolt style of old lol, but I use Rem oil on my side lever guns pins/moving pivot parts.

Buddy I honestly have never shot any commercial ammo from any of my Sentry's however if I was going to choose a slug it would be a larger diameter like NSA .218 diameter, my experience with these guns tells me they're one of the larger size .22 bores.  I'm sure what's happening in your case is there's wasted air going around the OD of the .217 slugs causing the poor energy and possibly they're less accurate than say .218.  Maybe there's someone else that can chime in on results of different slugs from these guns that's used the .218 diameter.

Wayne, I ordered a sample pack of the .218 20.2gr to try, also a pack of .2175 17.5gr since they didn't have this size in .218. I'll let you know how they work.

 My bolt action 702-3 .22 when cycling a slug, I have to use my thumb on the back of the bolt to seat the slug, hand cast 30 gr BBT I cast, after sizing to .218. But it is the perfect fit for best accuracy and power. I also opened the porting to gain a bit more airflow.

I had my Sentry 705-9 out at the state land today, I didn't see any squirrels so I did a three shot group.

I received the NSA .218 20.2gr slugs today and they did shoot much better than the .217 or .2175s.

Its killing me but I think I'll wait til next spring (wink, wink) and experiment more with the slugs.

I ordered a tin of the H&N Barracuda Hunter 18.21gr pellets too and they shoot very well.

I definitely see the advantage of the slugs over the pellets for knock down power though.

Buddy I never did a video of working on the 705-9 Sentry they're not the same as in that video James posted, many similarities though.

Buddy in this pic I show where I drilled out ports (exhaust port, breach port and transfer port) I used my dremel with a ball debur tool for removing the bur's.   I drilled the ports to 5/32" on mine.
The red dots I put in show basically the ports that I had to drill
