I’d really like to know where to find a spare magazine for this gun . Anyone have any ideas?

A year ago (January 2019) i discovered I'd left my Model 70 cocked while stored for several months. Needless to say the hammer spring was pretty fatigued. It was shooting in the mid 700's with a high of 815 fps. Couldn't adjust the hammer tension in anymore. I contacted Jeremy at African Air Ordinance and I ordered a few springs. I installed the shortest spring in the picture below. I missed the first shot over the chronograph but here are the rest starting with the second shot on a 3200 psi fill using JSB 81 gr pellets: 870, 872, 870, 872, 870, 870, 865, 865, 857, 854, 848, 842, 834, 826, 804, 796. I can't remember if I had to cut any coils or not as I did this back in December (2019) but I believe I did have to cut just a few. Just wanted to post this in case anyone else runs into hammer spring fatigue.

I haven't touched the HS since I purchased my 35, but the chrono showed a peak of 884 and a low of 866. Interestingly enough, 866 was the first shot. If I remember correctly, it was something like a 210BAR fill.

I really need to get her over the chrono again to play with fill pressures.

I tried getting a spring from PA a while back and couldn't but you may be able to get a mag. I would check with them and Rick with airgunproshop

If you want one for your .257 this might work https://www.rojal.si/en/shop/airguns/airgun-magazines/magazine-25cal.html I don't know if the length is right or not. They have 9mm mags listed as well. For caliber conversions it is possible that the original smaller caliber barrel is lower in the breech which means that the magazine won't line up with your converted barrel.

Back in the day, when Tom ( AmericanAir arms ) was converting his Storm .22 to .30 I sent him a Storm .357 mag, ha sleeved it and worked.

Bringing this topic back to see if AZ had gotten anything good (accuracy @50 or above) out of the Nielsen slugs or any other slugs? I haven't even been able to get to the range with the Hatsan Vortex(JSB's) yet but was considering coyote and slugs seems to be a better option.

I shoot at 45 yards and 70 yards. I had to go back through the thread and see but it looks like it did well at 45 yards with NSA 75 gr hollow points and 79 gr EPP but at 70 yards they struggled to group. Mine were sized .358 i believe. I had a bunch of Rick Morrill ammo at the time and i think his 84 gr pellets did well. Hands down it was most accurate with JSB pellets. I haven't purchased anything from NSA in a long while  but I just went to their website and things look a little different. If i recall, all the hollow points were in increments of 10 but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. So the 79 gr hollow points he has now may be better in your Model 70.

Thanks for the info A.Z.! Maybe I will have best luck with these Hatsans as well....Be nice if there was an un-choked barrel option for these..

Forgot to add the other day. I tried to get twist rate on the barrel and I, like someone else out here, could not get the rod to turn no matter what I put on the end. Just looking down the pipe it appears like a fairly fast twist rate.

It should be in the 18-20" range. They shoot short 88 grainers well and work up to at least 130 grains if your gun can push them up to speed.

I have been buying the GT Bullets .380  88 grain hollow points.
I like them alot and will never buy pellets again.
Also there cost less.

Some days 1" and sub 1" at 50 yards but the b.c. is higher than pellets.
With pellets I'm a 4 mil dot holdover at 100 yards
With the 380 bullets on the same tune im a 2.1 mil hold at 100 yards.
A 1" group at 50 yards and 160 ft lbs on my current tune.
That's plenty accurate for a big bore.
My jsb 81 grains yield a 3/4"-1" at 50 yards.

I'm happy......however I will play with barrel supports/tensions soon in Hope's of getting tighter groups.
The GT .380 in my gun likes 800-850 fps
At 900 and up the groups open.

The GT 9MM 130gr hollow points do well for me too.
The best was the NSA ammo however paying $40 for 100 rounds to plink ain't my thing
