A gas ram on a Gamo Delta fox ?

I still have a Gamo Delta Fox I bought about ten years ago. It's a low power kid's rifle but this one had a good accuracy thanks to a decent  bore and I remember having some fun spending a few minutes punching paper at 15 yards, when coming back home late from work.

But it's surprisingly loud and twangy-even noisier than my Crosman Vantage NP, though its spring has become really weak. I tried some poor mods, adding washers behind the spring and a felt pad in front of the piston but it didn't get any better, if not worse.

So now I'm wondering if I could change the spring for a gas piston -not a powerfull one. I'm not sure there's any in Europe but I found a reference in Brasil at Eliteairguns.

Did anyone here try this ? If so, I'd be very interested by his (or her) experience.

     Never have done it myself.  My guess is it's doable, though you may have to improvise some type of spacer/keeper for the ram.  I wouldn't think it would be all that difficult.  N-Forcer has a reputation for good rams.  I'll leave a link to Scotchmo's post about gas rams--lots of good info here.   Seems like a worthwhile project.  If it's not doable or not worth the effort, you might be able to have some custom spring guides turned.  Good luck.

Custom Seals of Australia sells gas rams that fit the Gamo's the problem is they are more geared towards the newer crop of guns.  Does your's have a piston with a pin down the middle that latches into the trigger mechanism or does it latch on the bottom of the piston?  Approximately how long of a stroke does the gun have, lots of variables for this.

I don't wan't to get involved in any enginneer-level tinkering, first because I don't have the skills, second because that rifle isn't really worth the pain.

That's the reason why I've been looking for a ready-made kit and someone who had used it. This one looked appropriate at first sight : https://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-884335318-kit-gas-ram-gamo-delta-fox-40kg-bucha-pu-centralizador-_JM, but when reading all that's perfectly explained in the GTA posts you mentioned, I'm afraid I'd have to modify the piston, what I'm not able to do.

     Send it to Al for a tune.  It'll shoot as good as with a ram.  With a JM spring it will last many thousands of shots before needing replacement.

  You missed something : I'm in France. Shipping a Gamo DF in the US and sending it back would cost 3 times  what I paid for this little rifle. But never mind : your idea of changing the spring is probably the best. But... I tried last year to put a "ghetto style" sleeve on it, and it was terrible mess. At least I could eventually disassemble everything without breaking anything . I still have many things to learn before tuning even the most modest of all air rifles, and I'm not sure I'll live long enough for that but in the meanwhile, I'll have fun shooting all these "dedicated-to-old-farts" toys.
