GAMO Urban vs. Coyote?

Thanks to Walmart's crazy pricing fluctuations recently ($172 during Black Friday weekend) I now own both rifles. So, how different are these rifles?

The Urban is synthetic stock only and is both shorter in barrel and in air tube (therefore lighter). It's also available only in 22 caliber.

The Coyote is available in 177 & 22 but in wood stock only. The wood stock is nice but I really like the way the Urban synthetic stock holds and grips.

The type of barrel, action and magazine design appears to be identical between both rifles. Both are very quiet.

My Coyote is supposed to come with a synthetic stock.  It seems to be stuck in customs and won’t be delivered today as originally scheduled... Fedex explained that customs has requested some additional paperwork from Aceros de Hispania.... Hopefully it stays under 4 and they don’t charge any additional fees

Find myself almost in the same situation as you Marc. I also couldn’t resist the Walmart blowout special on the urban and grabbed one. The urban shows that it is out for delivery. We”ll see if it’s delivered in a rented panel truck or if the lady in the golf cart pulling a trailer brings it to the house....

The Urban stock seems very, very ergonomic and the complete package as short as it is, is very attractive with nice proportions.

Yeah, I have a Urban coming as well from Walmart. Great deal on a PCP couldn't pass it up. I'm excited to get it.

I don't like plastic stocks in general, and the one on the Urban looks particularly ugly to me. Feel however, is really good. One of those rifles I can look at a target, close my eyes, shoulder it and it's very close to being on target. It's no HS Precision stock, but it doesn't feel cheap either. I did use a utility knife blade to remove the sharp edge at the parting line, but that was a 5 minute operation. The stippling feels great too.

Not sure what I'll do with my 2nd Walmart special yet. 1st thing will be to remove the factory LDC (and put a cap on the muzzle to cover the machining where it was moulded on). It will be loud, but not all airguns have to be quiet. It will be a lot more handy without the plastic blob on the end, that's for sure.

I couldn't let the above comment sit uncontested, so I started composing this message to say how ugly I think the Urban looks.  Then I was notified someone else  posted a new message saying how ugly it is while I was composing mine.  Looks like they beat me to it!  I guess we all have different tastes.   

Guess I'll have to buy one now!

Marc, good shopping.

Shorter barrel will  not be so big disadvantage because larger caliber.

Comparing groping of .177 JSB heavy and .22 JSB heavy  at indoor condition will be very interesting.

At first, I thought my Gauntlet was ugly also but you get over the ugliness quickly when the rifle shoots well (as I understand the Urbans do).
When you guys get some trigger time, it’ll be interesting to see which rifle (Coyote or Urban) is more accurate at 50+ yards.

I agree. I know some folks have posted about the ugly silencer (which works great!) but I don't find it oddly out of proportion. It seems a lot like many silencers you might see.

Same thing for the synthetic stock. I've long been a fan of the Crosman pistols with the carbine stock. That Crosman stock creates a short, handy "rifle" that is pure fun to shoot and carry around. I own one. It is beauty in function.

The Urban seems beautiful to me like that.

To each his own. Folks like different things, elsewise there'd only be one style of car or furniture or a single appearance of someone we'd date. 🙂

I find the Urban better looking than the Coyote but maybe it's cause I like a gun that have vertical grips. The stock on the Coyote just looks way too horizontal to be comfortable.

Monday and Tuesday

Snagged the Coyote from Aceros de Hispania's Black Friday sale for $368 with the exchange rate that day.
A couple days later Wally put the Urban on that crazy sale... resistance was futile
