.20 SynRod w Mountain Air LW barrel is NICE!

I received the LW barrel from Mountain Air that I ordered.  Roy was a pleasure to deal with and the barrel was delivered early.  Can't beat that.  I mounted it and this was the results at 25 yards, 5 shots, using the 13.7 JSB Exact Diabolo pellet.  It did not like the H&N pellets, and I still have the Benjamin pellets to run through to see how they work. 

I mounted the barrel on a completely stock Marauder.  Other than this new barrel it is as it came from the factory.  I have not made any changes to it yet, nor tuned it, but I have the other aftermarket parts to do so.  I am going to take my time, document my progress and do this at a pace that I can understand what I am doing.

So far I am pleased as can be with the barrel's performance!  Thank you Roy for increasing my enjoyment.  When I get a minute I will try the Benjamins at 25yd, then all of them at 50 yards.  I can't wait to see how it does at 50.

I also received the Marmot Militia .22 barrel the same day.  I have not had a chance to install it and give it a try yet.  I expect that its results will be stellar too.

Having 5 .20 cal guns in the stable is testament to this.

After having some tuning work and perhaps regulation you are going to have a fabulous rifle IMO !

OK...it's been a couple of months with no responce....the 12" 5mm LW barrel promised to PCP-Chick is now mine to do with as I see fit.


Think it (and a bit of bolt work ) are going on a Crosman 1701....and a shoulder stock...and a scope...and a shroud.

Did take me two months to find the barrel....so I gave her 2 months to respond.

Going to "cheap" and see if fatter O-rings on the bolt .177 probe will take care of sealing.  If not, then I'll just have to make the end of the bolt / bolt probe fatter.

Have a small metal lathe...just have to get it out and set up and get to work.  figue I'll test it "naked" (no shroud) and then add the shroud.

No mega-power here (have other 5mm's)...figuring 65cc's of air...seems like 12-14 foot pounds wouldn't be excessive.

I love the .20 cal. I see Dillon (Dairyboy) has his .20 Marauder for sale. I'm all in for the time being or I'd be knocking at his door.

Yeah Bill it got sold...with the WARP for me and now Urban for the wife (let's be real she only shot Airguns twice this year so I'll be shooting it more) I'm getting rid of my project guns as I'm getting less and less time to mess with them. Great thing was it was a local sale to a fellow GTA member linoww who lives about an hour away and was driving through my area anyways so met up at my place for about 15 min. Awesome to meet another fellow airgunner and i didn't need to ship it! He got to shoot it alittle yesterday when he got home and he said he was happy. And said if I ever needed a good quality Springer that he'd get me hooked up so I might take him up on it in the future!

Do these folks make a .20 cal barrel for the Prod

I believe he does.  Check out his website and give him a call.  The .20s are not his bread and butter, but he can order a .20 barrel and machine whatever you want with it.  You send him your bolt and he machines it to accept an o-ring.  He puts the o-ring on the bolt rather than the barrel. 

What I really like is his treatment of the breach.  Knowing that the .177 magazine will not work with the .20 he machines the barrel so that it extends across the receiver's magazine gap.  He cuts this extra barrel length in half, doing away with the top half of the barrel. It creates a "tray" of sorts into which you place the pellet and ram it home, artillery gun style.  I like it better than the magazines and Crosman's single shot tray.  There is no binding up of the pellet, and much less worrisome resistance as it enters the breach, unlike the stock Crosman barrel that really buggered up the pellet. 

I was able to get back out there this afternoon and shoot the Benjamin pellet.  Not good.  Have now shot all the available .20 pellets through it.  The JSB is the most accurate pellet of all of them, and by a fairly wide margin.  Shooting bench with Caldwell bags front and back.  The others won't group as well, but still better than the stock barrel.  Shooting the JSB pellet a flyer at 25 yards only makes a hole into a cloverleaf.  Out of 50+ JSB pellets through it I have only had four true flyers that made a separate hole.  The rest just widened the first hole.  They are straight out of the tin too:  I have not washed, sized, weighed or lubed them.  Absolutely amazing barrel and machine work.
