Sorry if I posted this in the wrong Gate! I have a new RWS 48 and have Loctited the scope and stock bolts/screws. My question is when I need to remove the stock screws and bolts (3) to lube the spring do I need to clean and reapply more Loctite before reinstalling bolts/screws? Thank you in advance!

Yes you should, but not spotless. Just rub with a cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol prior to a light new application should be fine.
And FYI... The general Airgun gate would have been fine.

Cheers!

Blue Loctite is a one time thread locker. Once you break the joint the lock will not reestablish itself. You must clean the surfaces and reapply.
A better choice can be Vibratite VC-3. It does allow you to tighten a joint and still maintain its locking properties. When I remove a screw I have treated thus, I still clean the surfaces and reapply the locker before reassembly.

It may be just me, but I don't want to think I've retightened a screw to the proper tightness that had old remnants of a former application of locktite 242 which is now a crusty mess. I do my best to remove any of the old crud. I've even used a pin to clean the threads. I use a degreasing spray, gun scrubber seems to work well, then reapply the 242 and tighten em up. It's cured in 24 hours, and that's how long I let it set.
I'm not a NASA space engineer, but get satisfaction from doing a job right!

I second Vibratite VC-3. Its my go to thread locker for most applications on Airguns and Firearms, Bows. It does not dry hard like locktite does it will allow you to adjust the part after the first application and still have a good hold. It also is much better on your screws when you need to remove them, no extra torque required to remove the fastener less chance to strip out the screw or tool.

Vibratite VC-3. Roadworthy put me on it and I am glad I listened. I am an old Loctite addict: blue, red, bearing-loc. Have the big bottles of all. Don't need them now. I saw the light.

Thank you Randy, Tim and Ray! Will give Vibratite VC-3 a go next time around. On my D34 my friend melted monofilament on all my bolts/screws and that has held for 5 years and counting...but, alas I am not that ambitious so Vibratite it is!
