The HW95/R9 are the same gun different clothing! the HW85 used to be a close copy of the R10, the R10 has a screw off end cap to get to the main spring like the R1's where as the R9/HW95 has a plug, the HW85 the newer ones have a plug like the R9/HW95 to get to the spring so their you have it! HW found a cheaper way to produce the HW85 which was suppose to be a knock off of the R10. Manufacturing of the screw off end caps is costly so they found a way to make it more proffit-able on the HW85 by going to the plug!

Actually, Beeman bought their guns from Weihrauch.... There were detail differences but Beeman never made them, they had Weihrauch customize them.... Everywhere else in the world they are sold under the original name.... Weihrauch....

I thought the R8 was an old predecessor to the current 95. I could be wrong about that however. The HW rifles have great open sights were as the R series is scope only (front of the barrel shroud is not dovetailed for a sight) this makes it more cost effective for Beeman. Both HW95 and R9 are otherwise the same rifles as I understand it. I went for the HW95 Luxus in .177 and highly, highly recommend her. Good luck!
