Cleaning inside the soldered-in valve

I have the valve guts out of my '74 Blue Streak, and I dug the synthetic gasket out (the one that sits against the front of the valve) with a dental pick, but I'd like to make sure I didn't leave any small bits of gasket on the ledge.
I'm wondering what you do to polish that ledge. I polished the ledge that the inlet valve presses against by gluing an abrasive pad to the end of a 3/8 inch wooden dowel and twirling it in place, but it's not very easy trying to use that on that other ledge that the valve rests against.
What do you folks do? Thanks.

Never tried it before but a dremel tool with a narrow buffing pad should work like a charm.

Do they make an extension that would reach that far inside the tube?

I turned a piece of delrin to the right size and glue a piece of emery paper to it to clean up sealing faces
the other end is machined smaller to clean the inlet seat

Haven't done it with a Sheridan but I made a makeshift tool for cleaning out the old valve gasket in a Crosman 102. There is a wild cane that grows in ditches and river bottoms, gets about 15' high. A kind of bamboo, I guess. I selected a piece exactly the right diameter, cut the end off square and made serrations in it. Turned it by hand, as much force as necessary can be used since it won't mar the metal. Worked well.
