220+ FPE on 3 lb spring and 30 gram hammer? AAA Slayer

Hi, new here and I am in the market for a pcp rifle, after seeing Tom win the big bore EBR I decided to look up the rifle. This rifle looks amazing, does anyone have one of their updated models? I have done enough reading to know that relative to its power those specs are incredible and wonder if anyone knows if Tom / AAA will be implementing this new tech into his sports carbine that would be more along the lines of my style of rig? Any and all input is appreciated! Thanks. As much as I want to dive into pcp's I am not sure I want to dive right into big bore and would love this in .22 or .25, although it's likely his focus has been more on the big bore side of this platform so I may have to wait a few years for things to trickle down!

I'd pm him and inquire directly but figure he is super busy and don't want to burden him with questions if others already have the answers!

From what I understand, the balanced valve Tom uses in his bullet shooting Slayer is not necessary, or used, in the pellet shooting Sports Carbines....

98$ bucks for a spare magazine is steep but the craftsman ship on the design looks unmatched.

I have a Slayer in .357.  Probably the most rugged airgun that I own, and I a bunch of high end guns to compare to.  The gun is very accurate, very quite, and compact.  But it is still a big more.  You get 5 shots tops out of a fill, but thats what the mags hold so your good to go there.  If you don't cast slugs yourself it is more expense to shoot than diablo pellets.  The mags are expensive but so are the Daystate mags. But you won't break one of the Slayer mags.  The guns are great, you won't be disappointed if you get one.

Thanks drumie, thats exactly what I wanted to hear. I will certainly be adding the AAA line-up to the top of my list. So many great options out and coming out its hard to settle on one! I guess that explains why I notice most people having multiple!

Tom is claiming a really nice looking shot count for an Evol in .22 or .25 but especially .22 if your not needing anymore FPE then that.

Does anyone have an Evol in .22 yet?

Most info i see is on .30 .

Welcome to the GTA.  I don't get over here as much as I used to and many times will only check the AAA product gate.  The Slayer valve/hammer system is totally unique and has many benefits for high FPE guns.  The heart is the balance valve which uses reservoir pressure to offset the opening force to a level lower than most all pcps of any caliber and configuration. 

Benefits:
1) low cocking force and does not require a second cocking mechanism for the hammer.
2) no limit on poppet size - good for power and efficiency.
3) extremely light hammer with a short stroke has very little energy to disrupt the shot cycle and also has a very fast lock time for an airgun.

In the context of a bigbore these benefits outweigh the negatives.  Yes there are negatives.

Detractors:
1) More seals and several of them are dynamic.
2) Uses much more space in the gun.
3) Complex and must be made to higher precision for consistency and reliability.
4) Seal drag.  As stated above, there are dynamic seals and they create drag on the opening and closing of the valve.  Using the correct lubricant on the seals is paramount to success as well as correct part finishes.

How all this applies to the small bore pellet gun.  When you look at the benefits, you instantly realize that the problems solved do not exist in a properly designed sub 125 fpe gun.

However, the EVOL does share some of the Slayer valve technology.  It uses the same cartridge design and poppet geometry.  Cocking on the EVOL is very easy due to the side lever design and the efficiency is also very good ( 36 shots at 80 fpe. on 230 CCs in 30 cal).  The balance valve is not necessary so why add the detractors.

Next year I hope to have a 35 cal EVOL and it will have a balance valve.

How do you think the specs will compare with regards to shot count , fpe, etc. on the .357 pellet / Evol vs the Evol .30 ?

as you know thus was an interest of mine prior but i had felt maybe Evol wasnt going that route , but am VERY interested in your input.

Ive been on the fence a while about my evol being a .30 or .357 ....

Also considered  Evol in .357 on the larger platform and with larger reservior 500-750 cc range ...

Sounds like so many great things still to come ...
