I am trying to install a laser that I just bought on my FX Monsoon, which has a dovetail mount, but all the lasers I have looked at including the one I bought have a weaver mount. You can't use a standard adapter in this case, because the laser has the mount grooves in the removable side plates which barely fit in the short space in front of the mag. and an adapter would raise the laser up to high anyway. What I have decided to do is machine up my own low profile adapter to keep the laser close to the barrel centerline. My question is: what are the included angles (between the two sides)used on standard dovetail mounts and what are the weaver V angles? the dovetail groove angle looks like around 55 degrees or 35 off the top of the rail. The weaver looks like opposing 90 degree Vs. I am a machinist but don't have equipment to measure something that small on the rails. I can grind a cutting tool for the dove tail groove and use a standard end mill for the weaver if it is 90 degrees. So, who knows what the angles actually are?
Thanks

This is what you need....
https://pallmart.com/products/1085441?utm_source=googleus&utm_medium=shoppingmulti&utm_campaign=googlecpc&ref=SFDR_76873640&variant=33430529665&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImriw5b3s1gIVTW5-Ch1d1w5REAYYBiABEgJsvPD_BwE
Dovetail to Weaver with NO added height....
When machining a Dovetail I use a 60 deg. dovetail mill.... you are correct that Weaver/Picatinny are opposing 90 deg. angles....

Wow Bob, that'l work...I just put one on order. Only 11 bucks and free shipping! You just saved me a day in the shop although I already wasted 2 hours making a drawing. Will take note on the 60 degree cutter; I was off about 10 degrees on my guestimate.
Thanks a bunch,
Steve
