This might not work.

What if you drilled through the top of the breach block to get to the transfer port? Then just tap the top hole for a grub screw to seal it.

Just a crazy idea without the gun in front of me.

I already did that , but from the bottom.. theres a plastic plug in there that needs to be drilled out.. Then , I replaced the plug after with a 1/4-20 grub screw.

yep.. and the throat behind the poppet can also be opened slightly.. but soo far , none of it has yielded much gains.. looking back , id like to try the piston mod with no valve mods.

there isnt a lot (ie none) meat in the top of the block to tap and close... I suppose you could glue a cap on, but you'll have issues tapping it

the cap would be directly in the air blast anyway , so it would likely be blown off ..

Finally got a reply from Umarexusa CS (after sending them another email). I have to pay return shipping and they "might" cover it under warranty. No thanks. I'm not investing more money and feel that a replacement probably is unlikely to be much better at this point.
Maybe it will get resurrected if aftermarket parts become available.

I have yet to see any real accuracy reviews posted. Just reviews on how quiet it is. Your target will never know you just missed it

I have one of these..... A clearance from Wally not too long after they were introduced.  Mine came without the useless scope and cost $29 at the time.
It is still stock.  I have managed to scope it but that weird rail is tricky at best.  Accuracy is mediocre.  It seems to like Crosman pointed and wadcutters ok but
it cannot hold a candle to my dead stock Daisy 880.  It pumps easy.  Seem to be a plinker to me.  I generally shoot it in the back yard but it isn't much for shooting groups.  BBs were dreadfully inaccurate so I discarded that idea long ago.

It shoots pretty well using a Tasco 2-7 cheapie scope - very light scope I went to since the plastic rail seemed too frail (LOL:  Frail Rail  )
Just today, I considered getting it out for some 10 meter shooting but the trusty 880 won out and I'll likely pop a few rounds in the GPX tomorrow.

I'll report back tomorrow evening if I do get a chance to use it............

Finding a good pellet for the Umarex APX Pumper.....
Not easy, it seems.

Pellets Tested                     Distance for all 10 Meters.  Ten rounds for each group.
                                                   Crosman Wadcutters     7.4 gr  7/8" 2 flyers enlarged group by 1/4 in (flinch?)
                                                   Crosman Prem Pointed  7.4 gr  1-1/4" scattered
                                                   Winchester Hollow pt    Badly scattered 1-3/4"  group was ruined by the 5th shot.
                                                   Gamo Roundnose         7.3 gr  2" really bad group
                                                   Remington Express      7.9 gr  7/8" with  one flyer
                                                   RWS Diabolo Basic       7.0 gr 5/8" one oval shaped hole all in 1" bull

Stock Umarex APX .177 shot in shelter of carport 10 meters measured. Rested on table top seated.  Sand bags used. 
2-7 power Tasco scope shot at 6 power for all rounds.  1" Bull in all cases.  4 Pumps used in all cases.

More brands/types of pellets yet to try but I have never gotten a group as good as with the RWS Diabolo rounds. 
Next up, I'll try Daisy wadcutters and give the Crosman wadcutters another go since I may have pulled the trigger a bit.
