I just could not drag my sorry carcass out of bed, so no trophy for me. But look at this video! Holy mother of all rats. For size comparison look at a mouse and normal size rats on the same station.

This station has mouse activity during the day, so an hour ago I put out mouse traps. Doh!

It looks like you are going to need a bigger gun.
I "googled" giant rats and ran across this photo:
Let's hope they don't start getting that big here.
Full story here:
http://tosmoniyi.blogspot.com/2016/03/giant-rat-bigger-than-child-found-in.html
I served in the military for 23 years. I didn't see any action but could put up with a lot of miserable conditions. I think I could have also tolerated life in the trenches of WWI except for one thing that would give me the shivers - RATS!
Here's the link to the story for the photo below. I don't know that I will get much sleep tonight after reading this:

OK,
Steve, that big one looks like a female about ready to pop out another litter,
better get her quick......
You better get a BIGGER rat trap, or provide some headache pills, in the form of lead......
I guess it's time to put the 22 cal's and break out the 50 cal's, (on the mother of ALL rats)
I would think a a good 22 cal smacked right square between the running lights, might do the trick'
and I would have the 12 ga as a backup.
Looks like a average sized Nutria etc.
Tia,
Don
