New Guy here, Have lurked here and gotten lots of information and thought I would share my new/old project. Started out with a daisy BB gun in the late 60's and my best friend had his father's 310 from the 40's. It was a monster compared to my gun. Many mowed yards later I ordered a new 310 for 35.00 shipped direct from Racine. I killed lots of critters with that gun, shot my right index finger nail off and it finally gave up when I was in high school. I had lots of real guns at the time so it went to the back of the closet. Sent it back to Benjamin in 1993, and they politely declined to fix it and offered to give me 50.00 credit on a new one. Nope, send it back. It went back to the closet in the original box, where it remains today.
Fast forward to 2006, need some pest removal at the new home, so I bought a Mac1 Steroid 392 and it has been a great gun. However, my old eyes are not so good on iron sights anymore. Decided on a Baker Airguns one piece mount and a UTG Bug Buster scope. While waiting for the parts, got bored and decided to change the stock and work on the trigger. Not finding anything available for a custom stock cheap, decided to buy a new 392 and use that stock as it is larger and more material to work with.
( Put my old stock on the new gun and gave it to one of my buddy’s, 30 years old and never shot a pellet gun or BB gun??? California kid, go figure.)
Cut the fore end and carved up the back of the stock making it narrower and thinner at the pistol grip, plugged the holes in the fore end and refinished it. After modifying the trigger with a preload and trigger stop, I mounted the scope and dialed it in. 5 shot group at 25 yards @ .33 . Yea!
Really appreciate all the information here and at the Crosman Forums, make life easier on projects like this.

They might sound like a lot of work till you realize you only need 3-4 pumps for plinking.

Great work, not my style but you still did good work on it.
Now what about the old 342 ?
Mac1 sells the seal kit, and it deserves it because its definitely better made in a few ways than the modern 392's.
I've heard lots of good things about the modern 392, but they don't make things like they used to.
Glad you helped the guy out and hopefully made him a future member.
I'm one California kid who got lucky receiving my first airgun at age 7, here in my part of NorCal we're not the typical " Californians " and many kids get airguns or .22's and maybe airsoft at the very least.

My mistake, it is a 310 from 1970-or 71 serial number H362406. Gun is in great shape and just needs to be re-sealed. I will take some pictures tonight and post them . I may get adventurous and order some parts from Tim and see if I can bring it back to life.
I am thinking of sending my 392 to Tim and have a brake installed and have it gone thru to make sure its 100%. Feels a little gritty on the first few pumps. If the old 310 is up and running, I can send the 392 off but still protect me and the loved ones from those vicious squirrels.

The 310 would be a nice project. I got the parts for my 312 from Rick at Precision Pellet and never looked back. 3 more guns rebuilt with parts from him.
Now the 392 is AMAZING!!!

Ok, here is the 310 or the "Mammal Murderer" as we called it as kids.
Funny, when I shot the end off my finger with this thing, Jumping off a bench, I hit the butt stock on the ground with my finger in front of the barrel and my other hand on the stock. Just assumed I hit the trigger..................nope. I just cocked it and bumped the butt on a carpeted floor..................."Pop". Sum a b.
Remembered I broke the ear off the safety so I just removed it.

Nice! I love seeing the creativity. It has inspired me to take on some mods of my own. Albeit on a 1377.

Thanks, I will give them a call. The 310 is on it's way to Timmy Mac for a rebuild and the 392 is going for a Gen II brake. I need to find another project to play with until they come back.
Found a nice early model 392 on Gunbroker, NIB from the looks of it for 140.00...........................................
Anyone ever try to make a .25 392?

Can't be done. The barrel is soldered on.
I wish they'd go back to making. 20 cals.
