OK folks, I'm on another musical quest with this thread. I'm looking for Rock Bands that you think to yourself, "Why didn't this band get recognition?" Here's mine....Armageddon. That's the name of the band and one and only album they made. If you're curious and want to listen, Silver Tightrope or Buzzard are my favorite tunes on the album.
I'll listen to all of them, maybe burn a CD or 2 if possible of new music you folks suggest. Thanks and let's have fun with this thread

I remember a late 70's band named Gama. A buddy had a couple their cassette tapes we would listen to in his car.
Their albums were titled simply "Gama 1", "Gama 2", and so on... think there was 4 total.
I'll be darned if I can find their music anywhere now and I would like to hear it again, seem to me I liked them but the Late 70's are a little "fuzzy around the edges".

Thor. Keep The Dogs At Bay was their only album, that I know of. God Of Thunder was the song I remember hearing. Sounded a little like Judas Priest.

Diamond Head- I am Evil
Budgie- Bread Fan
I didn't even know these bands existed until Metallica did their covers songs, now I hear them on Ozzy's boneyard, Sirius/XM radio.

Way back in the day (early 90s) I listened to this awesome station in the Seattle area- I think 89.5- an NPR-type station. They played all kinds of rare and obscure music. Heard a lot of foreign rock from Europe, Africa (SA mostly), Australia, even South America (especially Argentina)- a lot of it sounded like Led Zeppelin and Judas Priest, Janice Joplin, even The Doors. But it was all foreign languages... and pretty darn good. Go figure- a lot of the rock revolution was swayed heavily by the bands that got airtime so the voice might change but the standard rock rhythm was there.
I grew up with MoTown and Disco (my parents could cut a rug and my father especially woulda put Travolta to shame), but have a deep appreciation for everything from a-Capella Appalachian mountain music (Sheila Kay Adams) to the latest electronica from Tiesto. Good music is just that- Good!

You know what is funny..... I have a friend (Pando) who is the present Bass player for "A Flock of Seagulls", I thought this band died a long time ago but it's still around here in San Diego and So Cal.

An old friend and high school band mate plays sax for George Thorogood and the Destroyers.
Other than that, what I personally think is one of the best albums ever made is "Sweet Fortunes Darling" by Hotspur.

One of the most under rated bands is the Scorpions.
Scorps had many hits and were far from Obscure.
They are still played on a regular basis on Sirus XM "Ozzy's Boneyard" and "Hairbands" channels

My sister was a member of Columbia House! She got those automatic shipments of 8-Tracks that she didn't even want. She kept the Linda Ronstadt, Rod Stewart and ELO. She passed down Molly Hatchet, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Blue Oyster Cult, Kiss, and my offering of 70's obscure - SWEET. Ballroom Blitz and Fox on the Run were their hits, but I never hear them anymore...

Here's another band I forgot all about (had the album) until someone sent me a PM. Kaptan Kopter and the Fabulous Flying Twirley Birds. OBSCURE is the key word here folks. My cousin in HS was crazy about the band Ultimate Spinach, I didn't like them. Now THAT'S obscure.

See and that is my dilemma here... I have an "eclectic " taste in music and what I consider "obscure" is not bands that had top 40 hits.
Sweet was awesome "Little Willey, and "Love is like Oxygen" is a couple more.... but they were hits on the radio station.
Argent: Hold your Head up.
Stampeders: Sweet City Woman
Pilot: Magic
King Harvest: Dancing in the Moon Light
The Glitter Band: Rock and Roll Part 2
All one hit wonders but made the top 40 so are the obscure?
To me obscure means Bands that had good songs but did not make the charts, maybe I am reading too much into this?
FYI Here is my 70's channel on spotify... will be looking here fore suggestions to add.

Well these guy's were from the 80's but they were totally under rated because they were from Japan, they had some awesome heavy Metal songs and they still tour small venues today.
LOUDNESS
I remember only one radio station here played them.... KNAC...... Long Beach.... but if you were in the right place you could pick them up here in San Diego.
oh and I don't want to forget about the Canadian Band "Triumph" they had some popularity but most people did not know them... They were kinda over shadowed by "RUSH" at the time.
