(home made) Night vision scope attachment

[Slay No More]

Hello GTA. This was a project i started a few hours ago and sadly i just failed at it. I don't have alot of money for a expensive night vision scope so I was modifying this old toy that a friend gave me. So.. It was going smoothly until i some how broke the fragile screen. Let me explain what this does, i took the camera that you would look through, and i put it in the rear of the scope just right so that it's as if the camera is your eye. Next i took the lights and put them inside of the front of the scope so i could get a compact fit. This would work but i broke the screen some how, i will play with it more tomorrow and post a video when i fix it :].

Thanks for the reply, working on fixing the screen and down sizing it so it will fit the scope better so your head doesn't have to hang off the stock lol.

VERY GOOD NEWS! Fixed the screen now i just need a hot glue gun to assemble it all together hoary !

Yeah i made a schematic with the basics on how i did it i will post it for everyone it's not a great dire detail it's just a simple picture of how everything is put together lol

Well I'm 15 lol. So not rocket science but if you have never really played around with gutting things then it may be a bit of a challenge. I had problems with the screen.

Over all level of difficulty for me was about a 6/10
The only hard part was figuring out how to cut the pvc to house the camera + coming up with a way to get the screen to stay in place. After you figure these two things out it's so simple in my opinion.. Good luck if you take this task on!

I suggest having the following tools on hand.

Wire skinners (not sure what it's actually called)
Needle nose pliers.
razor knife.
Scissors and divers scissors.
small and medium small screw driver.
hot glue gun.
Popsicle sticks. (to position the screen correctly so that it is inline with the camera)
LOTS of duct tape.
PVC pipe that will match the size of your scope. (to house some of the internals and hold the camera at a distance, and attach it to your scope)

Good to see you thinking outside the box, even if it doesn't work.  You'll still learn something every time, even if it's what NOT to do.  At 15, you've got what I like to call uninhibited thinking, which is a good thing.
Do all the research you can on a project and often you'll find that somebody already came up with a slick solution that you can either copy, or make better.

Just please remember one thing, and that is safety.  The night vision deal is pretty safe, but you might eventually get into the guts of your gun where a compressed spring can really do some damage to you and anything nearby.

i had the same thought....sorta!

a digital camera will pick up infared lights,you eyes cannot.
i bought 40 10 mm high out put ir led,i tried mounting one in a flashlight.....the camera can only pick up about 3 foot infront of the gun.....useless.
ill have to get back on this project soon....lol.

you will need to put the camera behind the scope lol other wise it wont shoot correctly, think of it like this.
