My Flying Dragon full tuned 46U

.22. Mounted a Hawke 4X12 on it. It's a drooper, had to use the UTG T06 droop mount, and still had to shim the rear ring! Once I got past that, now have a tin of pellets thru it. It like soft lead, not hard; it's favorites right now are the JSBs in 14.3gr., AA Falcon 13.4 gr. Trigger is decent, very do-able, but not great. I haven't run crony numbers yet, will get back to you on that. I bought this for a pest shooter, and it's plenty accurate enough for that. So far, I'm pleasantly surprised with it.

Sounds interesting.  A friend had the Browning equivalent and was unimpressed with its power - or lack thereof.  What kind of velocities/power level are you getting out of it?

I had the Browning Leverage.... matter of fact I had an XS-46U stock on it. It was too heavy and I already had the bench shooting guns covered. Someone else ended up with a fine guns.

At 8.6 pounds it doesn't sound that heavy. Of course people thought my M1 was heavy and I didn't, so it is a matter of perception, usage, and ability I guess. Congratuations on your XS46U, a nice under lever for sure.

6'6" 330lbs; and in a perfect world it would have a longer length of pull fit my "ape hanger" arms

Dang, I'm 6'0" and 230. With my torn rotator cuff I'm lucky to pull my zipper up... It's true.. most of the time a walk around with my jacket wide open.

I've got the full-tuned 46U also, in .22.  It's the smoothest shooting springer I have.  My back hurts now so the thought of picking it up is painful.  I'll reach for my Airmax Varmint instead.  I'd sell the 46U except the postage cost to mail all that weight is prohibitive.  Big businesses get a good deal on shipping.  Individuals get nailed on postage.  I just calculated postage as $35 to mail a 12-pound package half way across the country.

Velocity readings on a springer without knowing the elevation are meaningless.

Here are Mike Melick chrono readings on my gun.  He is in Iowa at about 1100 feet elevation so these will be higher at sea level:
RWS Hobby:  780
Gamo Hunter: 724
Crosman HP:  713
JSB 15.89gr:       663
JSB 18.13gr:       654

At my elevation of 6300 feet, I'm getting about 14% lower velocity than Mike in Iowa, so I get 571 fps with JSB 15.89 gr.  Mine does not like Crosman HPs as velocity varies a lot with that pellet while it is extremely consistent with the JSBs.

That's a good point that I don't think a lot of folks don't take into consideration. 14% is HUGE.

Mike...I'm 5'10"  250 Lbs  ( I was 260 as a young man )      Neanderthal Build all my life.  My dad was same height but Much Bigger in the arms, shoulders and legs. He was about 285 Lbs. My Grandfather was same height but Much Bigger than my dad. Grandfather was named William as my dad was and He was nick-named Billy-the-Bull and was a Black-Smith.  My dad was a Farmer.   I had no problems deploying a BAR or M-60 MG  during my army years.       Best Wishes to All   -   Tom
