Co2 power?????

What is the most powerfull CO2 airgun ever made???  I`m sure someone here will fead some good info on the matter..  I have heard Tom Gaylord mention of a gun in the 80`s that was making 42 fpe  but never heard of it before..  Even the Airforce line of gun is not coming close to touching this kind of power..

Are you referring to an off the shelf CO2 gun or one that is custom built?  Off the shelf, I believe the QB's make between 700 - 800 fps.

Factory or custom made....   My only requirement is to seek for the most powerfull CO2 gun and look for what it takes to hit the mark..

CO2 likes a big bore to make power. Can't say most powerful but IIRC Quackenbush had a CO2 powered .375 that would make about 80 ft-lb. PCP? >3000 ft-lb using a helium/air mixture, likely quite a bit more when tuned for 100% helium...

Custom rifle the maker called "co2 much", not a lot left on the web about it. As best I recall, it was 1" bore and made 1000fpe.

well,the old farcos are factory guns to a degree, no issue finding one in 22 cal doing 20 fpe , 32 cal doing 40 fpe , and so on.. Run a dragon slayer 50 cal on co2 you will likely get 80-100 fpe , no custom work needed.. Might need to increase the hammer spring preload, but that's it. then there was the trapmaster 1100 , in .380 cal which runs on co2 carts.. these can be found for 2- 300 dollars , and shoot about 35 fpe.. With those being smoothbore, people have added liners from 22 cal all the way up to 308 and gotten up to 30fpe with no mods.. So , co2 is not nearly as limited as people think , my plinkster 25 cal makes 17 fpe , and runs on co2 carts and that's a 129 dollar gun.. there were a few big bore builds over the years done with co2, I think I recall one being called the Co-ax and was hitting 600 fpe

a basic rule of thumb, the bigger the caliber , the more impressive co2 becomes.. Ive gotten 177 shooting 801 fps on co2 , but that's still very little power.

Wow !! That is some good infos you got there... It`s a very good start for me to do some research on the valve they use and dynamics..  Even want to look for the effectiveness of an EXPENSION CHAMBER... Many thanks!

All this may be good but, of the guns I've owned... (stock) I'll pick my Trapmaster 1100 XL and a .36 roundball.

A .30 cal would be adequate to see good power..  I already have an co2 extinguisher that was recoup from a job site that I want to use the valveto make the build. Due to the valve porting, I think of a 4 hole transfert port and a flush face bolt could be interesting to develop..

Co-ax was .760"smooth bore running nitrogen. Left off at 630fpe on 1500psi.

.30 cal will make good power on co2. Have one that I worked on for a fellow... 28" barrel is getting just shy of 700fps.

AL, what would you say the potential was on co2 for the coax??in my original post I thought it was designed for the lower pressures
