Air Tube Bands...

More S200 work...
This gun has an Aeron CZ stock; the stock barrel bands have to be modified to fit the stock. I prefer a free floated barrel. So with that, the journey begins...
The Bands started as extruded 1/2" 6061-T6 barstock. Not my favorite material, but fairly overkill for this. The blocks were roughed out, and set in the Mill Vise with a Mill Stop and milled parallel and perpendicular.
The bottom of the blocks were drilled and tapped for mounting (#10-32 for the Fixture Mount, and M4 x 0.7 for the Forend Mount).
The Try-Fit in the forend worked out well... Again, using the Mill Vise and Mill Stop (I am addicted to Mill Stops), spotted the position of the Airtube hole with a Center Drill.
The next operation could have easily have been done in the mill, but I chose to make a fixture for the Lathe Faceplate:
The part was set in the Fixture with two #10-32 screws (The 2 socket head cap screws parallel with the Faceplate) loosely, a Lathe Center was used to center the part, and the #10-32 screws tightened...
The part was then drilled through and bored to the finished I.D.:
Two post-boring operations were also done on the lathe and faceplate: chamfering each side of the bored holes on each of the blocks.
Try-Fit of the blocks in the Forend with the Air Tube:
The blocks were ganged together with a stub of aluminium turned to a push fit in the air tube bores. The ganged parts were set on a surface plate to align them and set screws were installed into the Forend mounting holes to lock the gang together for profiling in the milling machine:
Note: the blocks are not yet de-burred and polished.
Try-Fit of the Profiled Bands in the Forend with the Air Tube...
Barrel clearance is good, and vertical alignment is also well within tolerance!
Trigger and Air Stripper are next...

This is how I received it for the most part (no scope)...The Trigger and Bolt handle were temporary fixes...
If this gun looks familiar, it once belonged to Peter over at Topgun Airguns; I bought it from one of his (untarnished) business associates who obtained it through TGAG liquidating assets before his departure for Club Fed. This was an as-is deal and I was well-satisfied. That said, there were a lot of little annoying things wrong with the gun... but nothing some time, patience and ingenuity couldn't fix.
