Taipan Veteran Standard .25 and Shorty .22 info

Here's my beauty's. Just love these guns and would like to give some details about these for anyone who is curious.



The .25 sports a SUMO normally but I wanted to weigh the difference between the 2. As is with the .25 Standard with the 12x42 SWFA scope and SWFA Medium rings and SWFA bubble level it weighs in at 9lbs.

Here’s the Veteran Standard .25 shot string. As you can see about 40 shots on the reg at 45fpe. The reg is set at 150bar. When it comes off the reg it still has a decent bell curve. I decided to tune it to where it has very minimal curve after and bumped it up to 930fps and now only raises to 940fps and back down to 930fps in about 10 shots after falling off the reg. At 33yds it’s just as accurate as it was shooting at 860fps. Definitely excited to get this thing out hunting.

The .22 Shorty with the 10x42 SWFA scope and SWFA Medium rings and SWFA bubble level it weighs in at 8lbs.

The shot string for the Shorty. I get about 47 shots on the reg at this power on a 250bar fill and by shot 50 it drops to 880fps.

DB, are you going to adjust your fps ever?  I've been holding of until I got my adjusters, just because.  Finally I got mine and said goodbye to my low fps of 815 with 25.39 JSB's and upped it to 927 fps.  And that puts my 33.95 JSB heavies at 827 fps.  Not sure how often I'll be playing with fps but I love outfitting my guns with new toys. 

I was also worried that the adjusters might hit my shoulder or alter my cheekweld, but happy to report they do neither.  It's like they're not even there, until you need them.

Thanks Keith! Honestly that's what I'm working on is trying to find out the cc's. Of I had to guess it's close to 150ccs or so for the Shorty and close to 250ccs for the Standard but I'm not sure and kinda just throwing out numbers right now based on the Mutants. These have a larger OD air tube so idk how much that changes the numbers. Oh and starting pressure is 250bar and ending for both is right around 120bar

Bill I actually just turned mine up to about the same right around 925-930 last night. Now when mine comes off the reg it barely rises in for which is what I wanted. Those adjusters from Donny look nice! If he did them in black or polished I'd maybe get some but I also like to set the tune and forget it lol

Adjustable power is something that I need because I occasionally need to hunt with light non-lead pellets.

How exactly do you adjust power, and what is the range of adjustabiity?  I'm most interested in the Shorty .22.

Just loosen the tightening nut on the side and twist in or out, just as you would with the factory tension screw, only no need to use those 2 pins or a set of snap ring pliers or needle nose pliers.  If you want to constantly change power, you'd have to devise a way to make visual indicators, or you could even just count threads that stick out past the block.  I  played with mine just a little bit and got it where I want it.

I understand about the color choices but red worked for my setup and it matches my red opening tab on my scope cover.



I'm gonna have to do new shot strings now.  I can't do anything though as the neighbors are having their roof re-shingled and there exist multiple prying eyes.  They don't need to be seeing this beaut!  And they don't need to see this airgun either.

Newb here, Dairyboy I finally installed my SWFA 10X42 scope to my Veteran .25 Standard (remember PM?). I am going to fill for the first time, I know it says 250 bar max which is 3625 psi, but being my first time I might just fill to 3000, kind of nervous about it. I do have a question, what do you mean by Fill to 250bar and reg set at 150bar? I get the fill part, sorry if its a dumb question.

Nope never adjusted my reg but maybe they come in that area and not exact? To test I had mine hooked to my Tiger shark to watch pressure drop on that big gauge rather than the small one on the gun. My personal .25 comes off the reg at 150bar while my .22 comes off the reg at 120bar.

My .22 Veteran short arrived about a week ago and I've put about 200 shots through it so far.  It has fully lived up to the positive reviews.  The accuracy and build quality are both exceptional.  After about 50 shots, I adjusted the HS to drop power to about 25fpe to accommodate lighter lead free pellets. Adjusting power is very quick and easy.  I also bought a Sumo to quiet it down for target shooting and it is now the quietest gut I own by a wide margin. 

I'm still getting used to the bullpup design and need to reconfigure my shooting rest to work better with the Veteran. 

It quickly became obvious that pumping this thing was going to get old very fast so I bought a 4500psi tank setup for filling.  According to the PA fill calculator, I should get about 65 refills on a 4500 charge. 

My last to-do is trying to figure out how/where to mount a sling.  I know many don't use slings with bullpups, but even the short will get heavy after 3-4 hours of walking.  Any input on sling setups is appreciated.

I haven't put the sling on yet but I have put a single stud in the foregrip. My plan is to use a sling that I can wrap around the thin piece of wood behind the pistol grip and the single stud in front. I also use the single stud in front to mount a bipod.
If the original idea doesn't quite work out, I plan to get a simple single point sling.

Probably so but thats where I carry it since I don't have a sling.

Hmm good question. From what I can tell I would say yes

Then I would get that piece off immediately, it's so much easier to carry bullpups with the grip free of the connection, and they look much better IMO
