Scuba Tank

Would like to know about how many complete fills and about how many normal top offs I can get from a 80 cu ft 3000 psi scuba tank? Plan to use one with my Benjamin Discovery and Marauder.

It depends on if you fill your Mrod to 2500psi or 3000psi. I have an 80 cu ft. tank (steel) rated at 3500psi. But you are allowed 10% overfill so the dive shop tops me off @ 3850psi. I fill the Marauder to 3000psi......shoot down to around 2000psi. then top back off, I get around 20-30 fills (never counted exact number)  before my tank is around 2800psi.

But from there I could fill the disco...probably 100 times no problem, My benjamin pump just went out AGAIN! so I am using my tank more these past two weeks

 Yup, i made the "mistake" if you call it that, of buying a 3000psi tank instead of the much more expensive fiberglass tank but economics weighed in heavy.. it's why i'll be making more trips to the scuba shop.. it's why the poor get poorer.  

  I'm going to add a pump and use it to top off pressure.. maybe one day get a higher pressure tank.. pcp is gonna cost us  j

Trust me!!!!!!!    Plus most dive shops DO NOT even fill to 4500psi because it puts stress on their compressors. I live on the coast and talked to 5 different shops, only found 1 that filled to 4200psi.


Al.- 3000psi.     ( Steel. 3500psi. )             carbon fiber 4500psi.

Indeed, what is the point of paying over $600 for a carbon fiber tank when you can't even find a dive shop able to fill it?
Looks as if 3500psi steel is the way to go all around.

Exactly.. I did wanna buy a 4500psi. tank, and I was looking at grabbing a SCBA tank setup from Joe in socal. But it was gonna be a hassle filling it... He even advises to make sure you have a place to fill before you buy one of his tanks.

Check craigslist for used tanks, or call dive shops.

don't sweat the hydro and visual inspections..most dive shops do both services no problem for fair pricing. I found my tank for $100 used, still in hydro...and all I needed was the din adapter from PA another $50-60 depending on what brand u pick.
