An effective shooting jacket for 90 to 100-degree heat: is there such a thing?

unfortunately not that I've seen... I thin I've seen some that have breath holes at the armpits and maybe on the sides but
can't remember what brand they might have been, that parts of the reason I haven't used a shooting jacket, though if I get the chance I may end up getting one.

I have a Creedmore-CMP mid-weight cordura jacket (4 adjustable clasp closure), and a lightweight Bob Allen jacket (5 button closure). Even in the heat and humidity, I prefer the CMP jacket for the extra support. I just wear a lightweight long-sleeve t-shirt under it.

THe Bob Allen jacket is more comfortable, but is just not as tight.

That said, I often think about replacing some of the panels in my Bob Allen jacket with mesh, stiffening the back, and tightening the front closure some. Lack of time and a heavy duty sewing machine are preventing me, though.

About 30 years ago, I purchased a USMC shooting jacket that was 100% cotton.  The advice given to me at the time was to get one two sizes larger than what I wear to accommodate shrinkage.

I have worn that jacket with only a t-shirt underneath while hunting groundhogs even on hot days.  Because it's 100% cotton, it is still comfortable even though it's hot.  I liked it because the padding on the sleeves protected my elbows for long hours spent on my belly.  Those of you that have done any long range precision shooting know that the artery that runs along your shoulder can make the cross-hairs dance no matter how much you hold your breath.  The shoulder padding keeps the cross-hairs from dancing.

I guess those jackets are hard to come by now.  However, someone is now making reproductions of that jacket. Before ordering, you should ask about shrinkage.  After reading the review, I may order one in khaki as the original one I have is in OD and absorbs the heat more than a khaki colored one.

How about just a plain white, long sleeved, cotton, button down shirt? Keeps the sun off your skin, reflects the sun, breathes. About the lightest, airiest thing I can think of.

I always just wore a t-shirt and a duckcloth vest with a big pocket in the back on opening day of dove season in the 100° weather of September 1st in north Texas.

Does that count?

Look up something in the Under Armor line, the material is for keeping you dry and cooler.

I imagine anything made of stiff canvas would be more comfortable than leather.
And light colors beat dark.
Benke Sport (I think that's the brand) has one that's light grey or white. But I've yet to see it sold anywhere in the States.
And I have no idea how hot it is to wear.

Padding to deaden pulse effects, improve offhand stability and a tight fit for effective bracing ... would seem to be in conflict with comfort in the heat.
Sounds like a product with a market ... but only a niche market in the States, like most other FT stuff.
